Summary: We are seeking a talented and energetic Director, Business Intelligence (BI) – EMPAVELI who will play a key role in the commercialization of EMPAVELI in PNH. The Director will be accountable for partnering closely with U.S. commercial, and cross-functional teams to generate market-specific insights from sales and performance analytics and primary market research, to create integrated, actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholder groups across the organization. The ideal candidate must have significant experience working in a commercial insights and analytics position within a biotech or biopharma company, focusing on rare diseases (hematology a plus). The Director will report to the Senior Director, Business Intelligence & Commercial Operations – EMPAVELI, and is expected to drive market knowledge and insights that foster cross-functional action, shaping strategy and tactical execution for EMPAVELI in PNH in the US. Roles and Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities Own brand performance/sales analytics/reporting, including national and subnational analyses Partner with the brand lead and relevant cross-functional stakeholders to design and execute strategic primary market research to track brand performance/address key business questions BI lead for strategic brand initiatives (e.g., brand planning, tactical planning), providing market outlooks, situation assessments, and SWOT analyses Develop expert knowledge across the therapeutic area, including but not limited to competitive landscape (marketed and pipeline), market dynamics, customer behavior, and sentiment Partner with Forecasting and maintain a strong understanding of the forecast and provide/validate assumptions that inform the brand forecast Proactively scope key business questions, generate hypotheses, independently design studies/analyses, and generate insights for the business with a strong focus on foresight Own the annual insights budget for EMPAVELI in PNH Qualifications B.S. degree required (business, biology, or medicine-related degree preferred); advanced Degree (MBA, PhD, PharmD) preferred 10+ years in an insights and analytics function within a biotech or biopharma organization Must-Haves: Hands-on strong analytics and modeling skills in Excel; familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI Experience in rare disease Expertise with claims, EMR, and registry datasets to generate strategic/actionable insights Expertise in qualitative and quantitative market research methodologies Excellent project and vendor management skills; ability to run multiple cross-disciplinary projects simultaneously (e.g., sales analytics, claims analyses, market research) with competing timelines Excellent cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills; ability to influence across several levels of the organization, including executive leadership, without authority Strategic and analytical mindset; strong problem-solving/framing abilities Excellent communication skills; able to integrate insights from multiple sources, create simplicity from complexity, and articulate compelling solution-driven narratives that foster action Managerial courage: ability to challenge and persuade different/cross-functional audiences within the organization, including business and executive leadership Seasoned in commercial assessments, asset evaluation, and prioritization Employment Full-Time Regular Domestic retravel may be required in this role (up to 20%) Work Arrangement: Hybrid Travel Requirements: Domestic retravel may be required in this role (up to 20%) ‎ Education: Bachelor's Degree Benefits and Perks: Apellis offers a comprehensive benefits package, inclusive flexible time off, summer and winter shutdowns, paid family leave and more!
