The TA Head, BMS Japan Medical Affairs, is a pharmaceutical executive with extensive therapeutic area knowledge, pharmaceutical/life sciences working experience and a current manager of teams within Medical Affairs. He/She engages extensively and naturally with external thought leaders and organizations while serving as the internal medical expert for their respective TA. They manage the full cycle of Medical Affairs (including Insight Generation, Actionable Insight identification and execution, Data Generation, Data Communication and Field Medical Scientific Engagement). Additionally, they are key members of the Japan Medical Leadership Team to ensure the success of their therapeutic area by advocating for their teams, escalating needs, priorities and resources of their team to senior leadership while simultaneously being enterprise minded to ensure the TA medical plans are reflective of the priorities of the broader organization. As a people manager, they are responsible for building and maintaining a high-performing medical team, driving motivation, and achieving results through coaching and modeling of best practices. 役割と責任範囲 (Roles & responsibilities) External Focus Engage extensively with external TLs and organizations to capture insights, represent BMS products/pipeline; challenge and shape the medical community regarding respective therapeutic area medical and scientific concepts. Serve as the external representative of the therapeutic area at meetings such as Joint Partner Company Operating Meetings as well as Therapeutic Area focused (vs. disease area focused) Congresses (ie. JSMO vs JLCS) Engage extensively with industry groups (e.g. JPMA, PhRMA, FIRM, etc.) to capture competitors' situation, trends and practices of medical activities and organization to help in benchmarking of Japan Medical team. Internal Focus: TA Strategy / Tactics Serve as the single point of medical responsibility for the overall therapeutic area and represent the consolidated, medical voice at internal, cross-functional/commercialization focused, senior internal meetings such as: JSWAT, financial Projection Meetings (ie P1), JPST, WWBT, Med TA Head Forum, BDOC, Access Committee, etc. Serve as escalation point to raise issues, advocate awareness and drive solutions for the disease areas and Field Medical with cross functional partners like R&D, BUD, Global Medical, etc. Help ensure Strategies of the Disease Areas are translated and aligned to direct tactics and metrics of the Field Medical Team. Implementation Serve as escalation for resource management specifically for 'above disease area' medical resources such as Scientific Communications, Medical Information Help set, manage, focus and allocate agilely people, financial resources and work force to ensure prioritized projects and initiatives have the appropriate funding and support. Drive and ensure quantitative and qualitative metrics are met/exceeded through direct accountability of the Field Medical Managers and Team Drive collaboration within and between disease area teams and especially with the Field Medical Teams . Internal Focus: Above TA Serve on the Japan Medical Leadership Team to ensure resources, processes and appropriate focus to enable the success of the respective Therapeutic area while keeping an overall enterprise mindset for the entire Medical team and BMS Japan. Provide strategic direction, oversight and sponsorship to organizational management projects and initiatives. People/Group Management As a People Manager, the TA Head is accountable for building and maintaining a best-in-class Therapeutic Area medical team by attracting, hiring and maintaining scientific individuals who can translate their expertise to help physicians make better medical decisions keeping in mind the BMS pipeline and therapies, when appropriate. They will need to be gifted in impactful communication and scientific exchange to accel in this organization. Directly accountable for both the day-to-day management of the team, and overall long-term talent portfolio of the team. Drive motivation, focus and results for the team by serving as a coach and model of best practices. 必要な知識/スキル (Required knowledge/skills) Knowledge Broad Working Knowledge: Holds extensive knowledge in commercial/marketing and R&D medical functions. Understanding of International Pharmaceutical Issues: Possesses a broad and in-depth understanding of international issues relevant to the pharmaceutical industry. Therapeutic Area Knowledge: Understands disease mechanisms, epidemiology, and typical treatments relevant to Immunology. Regulatory Knowledge: Acquainted with the Promotion Code and other relevant regulations pertaining to Medical Affairs in Japan. Clinical Research Knowledge: Preferably possesses knowledge of clinical research, clinical development (Phases 1-4), Investigator Sponsored Research (ISRs), and Japanese Post-Marketing Surveillance (PMS). Skills Advanced English Proficiency: Possesses advanced-level proficiency in English. Entrepreneurial Mindset: Demonstrates high passion, agility, and flexibility to handle uncertainty. Proven Leadership: Exhibits leadership capabilities in managing matrix medical teams through strategic approaches, fostering collaboration and achieving project goals. Patient Orientation and Compliance: Demonstrates a patient-centered approach and possesses strong compliance skills and knowledge regarding ethics, ensuring adherence to regulations and ethical standards. Project and Financial Management Experience: Brings experience in project management and financial management within the pharmaceutical industry, ensuring efficient resource allocation and project delivery. Expertise in Process Improvement: Shows proficiency in process improvement and problem-solving methodologies, such as Six Sigma, driving continuous improvement and efficiency. Experiences A minimum of 10 years of experience in the medical/science related roles pharmaceutical industry with at least 8 years in Medical Affairs</l
