Job Description Job Description: The Enabling Facilities (EF) group within the Chemical Engineering Research & Development (CERD) Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to work in a fast-paced job that provides support to laboratory scientists through centralizing a variety of tasks needed to maintain the laboratories in good working order and help the scientists with non-laboratory based work. The Y.E.S. Team Specialist position will report to the Director, Engineering and will be a member of the EF Team at the Rahway NJ facility. This position will be a member of the Y.E.S. (Your Everything Support) team which is responsible for a variety of operations work across the Rahway site. Primary Responsibilities of the Associate Specialist – Y.E.S. Team Specialist include the following: Primary responsibilities of the Y.E.S. Team Specialist are to work on Y.E.S. Team initiatives such as domestic and international shipping of chemical intermediates, sourcing and ordering chemicals and other materials for scientists in the department, troubleshooting lab equipment, initiating and tracking lab and equipment repair requests, and performing routine tasks on a regular basis (e.g. eyewash station checks and glovebox organization). The successful candidate will identify and implement organizational improvements throughout the department’s laboratories. The Y.E.S. Team Specialist will also be expected to support equipment lifecycle at the Rahway, NJ site through the purchase of capital equipment and the retirement of equipment at the end of its life. This requires collaboration with equipment requestors, safety professionals, site capital committees, vendors, and others to ensure that purchases proceed smoothly. Education Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) year relevant work experience – OR –Associate degree in a relevant technical field of study plus at least three (3) years experience – OR – High School Diploma/GED plus at least four (4) years of relevant experience in Capital projects, Inventory Management, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Petrochemical, Food Processing, or Manufacturing. Required Experience and Skills: Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent organizational skills to multi-task. Desire and willingness to learn, contribute and lead. Track-record of independent problem-solving. Strong communication skills to discuss technical problems and a collaborative mindset to interface with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, graphing, and presentation software. Familiarity with common chemicals/solvent property databases, laboratory practices/equipment and general lab safety practices Desired Experience and Skills: Familiarity with domestic and international shipping requirements Experience troubleshooting issues with equipment and/or electronics Familiarity with the administration of cGMPs, Good Documentation Practices (GDPs), and S&E regulations as it pertains to pharmaceutical development. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
