Job description

Job Description Partner directly with the GM for the Productivity Solutions Division (PSD) to lead the strategic transformation of a global software organization. This role drives enterprise-scale change across platform modernization, AI adoption, operating model evolution, and business performance, ensuring strategy is translated into measurable execution and business outcomes. As a trusted advisor and transformation leader, you will work across executive teams to accelerate decision-making, strengthen accountability, and establish the capabilities needed to compete and lead in the AI era. What you'll own Drive the transformation Own PSD's transformation end to end, from moving products onto the shared platform to new ways of working: the integrated plan, its dependencies and risks, and the value it delivers. Work closely with Agilent's Enterprise PMO and our Program Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE) to set the reporting standard for the transformation, and keep one live dashboard, fed by engineering and delivery data, as the single source of status. Remove friction: find the approvals, meetings and reports that slow teams down, and retire what doesn't earn its keep. Quality and compliance gates stay. AI-enabled transformation Drive AI adoption across how PSD works, from AI-assisted software development to planning and operations: pilot new tools early, measure adoption and impact, and move quickly to scale what works and stop what doesn't. Our platform and AI engineering teams own the tools; you make sure the change lands and pays off. Build an AI-first operating rhythm: use AI and agents to automate status reporting, meeting synthesis and risk signals, so leaders spend their time on decisions, not updates. Keep PSD's AI initiatives, including AI in our products, on the integrated plan with owners, milestones and value, and prepare the GM's AI updates to Agilent's executives. The operating rhythm Run a lean operating rhythm, from the weekly staff meeting to quarterly reviews and planning, where decisions get made in days, not weeks, and every forum ends with owners and dates. Accountability that runs as a system Spot risk before it becomes a slip: read the leading indicators in delivery, quality and dependency data, and raise issues while there is still time to act. Call status against agreed criteria, including red. Leaders can dispute the evidence, not your right to call it. When a commitment is at risk, require a recovery plan with an owner and a date, and escalate what stays unresolved to the GM with a recommendation. At risk means escalated, not quietly traded off. Integration across divisions and functions Work with Agilent CrossLab Group leadership, the business divisions whose instruments run on our software, the Agilent Transformation Office, and Finance, HR and Quality partners to resolve cross-boundary issues at the lowest level that can settle them. Business operations and the GM's agenda Partner with Finance and HR on headcount, requisitions, budget versus actuals and vendor spend, and run the division's internal communications cadence. Prepare the GM for executive, steering-committee and customer engagements, and take on projects the GM charters, each with agreed scope and capacity. What success looks like 90 days: baselines and escalation standards agreed with the GM's staff, AI adoption measured, one cross-divisional blocker resolved and one low-value process retired. 6 months: faster decisions, fewer overdue critical actions and more predictable milestones, with routine status reporting automated. 12 months: transformation milestones on plan, faster delivery in an area the GM's staff selects, measurable gains from AI, and new ways of working owned inside PSD. Qualifications What you bring Typically 10+ years in the software or technology industry, including hands-on time in software engineering, technical program management or engineering operations, and a record of taking complex transformation to a measurable result, not just planning it. A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, computer science or a science field, or equivalent experience. You know how modern software is built and shipped, from agile at scale and CI/CD to release planning, and can go deep enough to challenge an engineering plan. You use generative AI and agents in your own work every day, and you have helped a team or organization change how it works with AI, with results you can measure. You have held people more senior than you to their commitments, without reporting authority, and kept their trust. You build and read delivery metrics such as DORA, flow and predictability, and act on them before a date slips. Experience delivering across a global, matrixed organization and multiple time zones. Structured thinking, crisp writing and business judgment: you can turn a messy situation into a one-page decision memo and a sound business case. Preferred Experience with software development lifecycle, technology platforms, life-science domain, AI transformation, lab informatics or regulated (GxP) software. A prior chief of staff, TPM or engineering operations role at a software or tech company. Experience leading an AI adoption or engineering-productivity program across multiple teams.
