Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, No contact lens allowed; prescriptive glasses will be provided, Office, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.) Job Description Summary: Provides Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) support to the team, Operations and Pharmaceutical Development Services (PDS). Essential Functions: Provide EHS support to the department and site: Incident investigations JHSC audit finding closures Risk assessments Department specific training Client & auditor support Provides Environmental Support Ships dangerous goods following the regulations and provide guidance to employees. Manages hazardous waste management program. Manages wastewater discharge program ensuring compliance with Sewer Use By-Law Provide Safety Support Conduct equipment reviews Coordinate pre-start health and safety review completion Development of safety programs such as lock out and machine guarding Provides Industrial Hygiene (IH) Support A ssist with IH assessments on existing products and evaluate technologies to improve containment. Makes recommendations for improving containment, engineering controls etc., where necessary Participates in work-teams to evaluate containment of existing processes and implement containment plans. Develops and Implements EHS Programs Safety examples: Equipment and process safety reviews Industrial hygiene examples: respiratory protection, noise, and air sampling Environment examples: Certificate of Approval for Air, NPRI, NSNR Develops audit protocols, audit programs, procedures, and practices for the EHS Programs Develop and conduct EHS training Orientation training Monthly safety talks Department specific training New Project Risk Assessments Attends Kick-Off Meetings and ongoing Project Meetings Evaluates containment/industrial hygiene for new projects. Potent Compound active-specific procedures and training Liaises with Project Managers, Process Engineers, and Clients Completes and/or assists with special EHS Projects Provide guidance, back-up and support to other EH&S team members and Health Centre Support Respiratory Protection Program and Fit Testing Review and update the respiratory protection program, as necessary. Implement Positive Air Pressure Respirator (PAPR) maintenance and testing programs, as necessary. Conduct respirator fit testing for employees and clients Assist in selection and use of respiratory protection, protective clothing, hearing protection and safety glasses. Perform alternating or rotating shift work (as required . Essential Functions: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: B.Sc. in a related field EHS certificate program completion Experience: Minimum 3 years of previous EHS experience Minimum 3 years of Industrial Hygiene training / experience Minimum 3 years of Chemical, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical work experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Able to work in a fast-paced team environment. Previous experience conducting presentations / training. High integrity for dealing with confidential information. Demonstrated professionalism. Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Proficiency with the English L
