Position Summary The Global Medical Affairs Director, Oncology (Multiple Myeloma) role provides strategic global medical affairs leadership for an assigned oncology asset or portfolio. The role holder will set and deliver the long-term disease and medicine strategy, lead integrated global medical plans, and shape external clinical practice to help GSK get Ahead of Disease Together and positively impact patient and population health outcomes in oncology. They will operate in a complex matrix, partnering closely with commercial, clinical development, value & evidence, and country medical teams to drive launch and lifecycle success for oncology assets. The role is within a team reporting to the Vice President, Global Medical Lead (GML) for the specific asset/portfolio. Strategic accountability for all activities aligned to the asset strategy sits with the GML, with implementation and leadership of designated projects led by the Global Medical Affairs Director. These responsibilities include some of the following: Medical Business Leadership Serve as a key medical business leader for the assigned oncology asset/portfolio, accountable to the Global Medical Lead for strategy and execution. Represent the Chief Patient organisation as a medical business leader, applying deep oncology scientific expertise from early development through lifecycle management to improve patient and population outcomes. Lead/support development of the global disease and asset strategy, integrating scientific, clinical, and market insights to understand unmet needs and guide evidence priorities, communication narratives, product positioning, and evidence generation strategy in oncology. Act as a primary interface with senior internal leaders and external stakeholders (clinical experts, advocacy groups, regulators, payors) to shape disease understanding and treatment paradigms in oncology. Think globally while deeply understanding priority LOC needs via extensive partnership with country medical and cross-functional teams; translate local insights into global plans and deliverables. Lead Global Medical Operational Planning for the asset, ensuring plans are externally-focused, insight-driven and delivered on time and on budget across indications and geographies. Evidence Generation & Data Strategy Partner across R&D, Real-World Evidence (RWE), Health Outcomes, Global Product Strategy and country teams to identify and prioritize oncology evidence generation needs to close data gaps, support clinical and economic differentiation, and optimize clinical care. Develop scientific questions based on prioritized data gaps and work closely with Data Generation leads to shape Phase 3b/4 and value/evidence plans for the asset. Be accountable for timely review and approval of Phase 3b/4 and value evidence/health outcomes studies within remit, ensuring scientific rigor and strategic alignment. Review investigator-sponsored study proposals (ISS) for strategic alignment and scientific merit in liaison with R&D, Safety, Biostatistics and other experts. Scientific Communications & Publications Partner with Scientific Communications Leads and Integrated Medical Communications teams to align scientific narratives, publication strategy, and engagement tactics to the global oncology medical strategy. Define key scientific messages and provide oversight for integrated scientific communication plans (congress strategy, medical education, digital engagement, omnichannel content) for the asset. Lead development and communication of newsflow for the asset (e.g., data milestones, congress plans, publication timelines) on a regular basis. Drive excellence in scientific engagement by developing a robust global network of external experts (HCPs, payors, patient representatives, regulators) in oncology and collaborating with LOC Medical teams on advisory activities and initiatives to improve care pathways and outcomes. Provide medical signatory/approval for promotional and non-promotional materials (including congress and digital materials) as required per GSK Written Standards. Cross-Functional Leadership & Matrix Collaboration Lead complex cross-functional initiatives that support the oncology asset strategy (e.g., launch excellence, lifecycle optimisation, indication expansion, access and reimbursement support), ensuring alignment across global and local teams. Provide thought leadership and strategic direction to anticipate future challenges and opportunities in oncology treatment paradigms and evidence requirements. Act as key partner and delegate to the Global Medical Lead as required, representing the GML in cross-functional forums and governance interactions. People & Culture Inspire and motivate team members across the matrix organization, fostering collaboration, psychological safety, inclusion and high engagement without direct line management accountability. Act as a mentor to junior medical affairs professionals, supporting development and building future medical business leaders within oncology. Basic Qualifications We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals: MD/MBBS/PharmD or PhD in a clinical/scientific discipline relevant to oncology (e.g., medical oncology, haematology, tumour immunology). 5+ years of strong experience in Medical Affairs, including roles in LOC/regional/global settings and hands-on leadership of pre-, peri- and post-launch phases of assets. Experience working with regulatory and clinical development strategies across early and late stages of oncology development. Demonstrated track record leading complex matrix initiatives, managing multiple projects and budgets simultaneously, and influencing senior stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Advanced clinical training/board certification in oncology or haematology. Global or above-country leadership experience for oncology assets (e.g., global medical lead, global medical director, therapeutic area lead). Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to simplify complex science for diverse audiences. Experience in driving real-world evidence/HEOR programs and shaping access and reimbursement in oncology. Experience working across multiple regions and major markets (US, EU, Japan, China and Emerging Markets). Why You?
