AbbVie is currently seeking a strategic and hands-on Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing Lead to join our team in Mascot, relocating to the Sydney CBD in Q4, 2026 on a 0.6 FTE basis. As WHS and Wellbeing Lead, you'll champion a culture where people truly come first, drive a 'safety first' mindset across both office and field environments,  and lead the business's capability in psychosocial risk management and mental health. This role requires a hands on leader, proactively managing wellbeing initiatives and injury prevention through to WorkCover claims, case management, and Return to Work outcomes. Leading our wellbeing agenda, you will independently lead strategic wellbeing projects, ensure compliance with ANZ WHS legislation, and partner with senior leadership to deliver data-driven insights on physical safety and psychosocial health trends.  KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES Actively foster and lead a ‘safety first’ mindset among all employees through visible leadership, regular engagement and delivery of effective training tailored for office and field environments. Lead the business’s capability in identifying, preventing and managing psychosocial risks; ensure mental and emotional wellbeing frameworks are embedded to mitigate risk. Oversee the end-to-end worker health lifecycle including: Implement proactive wellbeing and mental health initiatives Manage incident prevention, immediate response, and deep-dive investigations (root case analysis) for both physical and psychological incidents Coordinating all aspects of WorkCover claims and injury case management Facilitating timely and positive Return to Work outcomes that prioritize holistic recovery Independently identify and lead strategic projects focused on proactive wellbeing management, resilience-building initiatives and the physical safety of our staff  Maintain full compliance with local/state ANZ WHS legislation and company. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for all environments, specifically including field activities and business-wide activities. Develop, implement and maintain updated affiliate Crisis Management, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans; ensuring preparedness frameworks are regularly reviewed, tested and aligned with organisational risk priorities and regulatory expectations. Advise the leadership team on holistic safety risk (including personal due diligence obligations), providing data-driven insights into both physical safety metrics and psychosocial health trends. Provide hands-on WHS guidance across all departments, ensuring that office staff and field teams are appropriately trained and have direct access to expert assistance. Report any adverse event within 24 hours as per AbbVie’s policies and procedures. Ensure that adverse events are appropriately captured and forwarded to pharmacovigilance within required timeframes, and support AE reconciliation activities Assist with the management of systems, relevant databases, workflow and documentation for the compassionate supply program to ensure required timelines are met Proactively participate in AbbVie’s WHS programs, adhere to policies and promote a safe work environment at all times. Adhere to AbbVie’s internal codes of conduct and compliance processes. Other ad hoc duties such as administrative duties, as requested. Tertiary qualification in WHS/EHS or equivalent  Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment & Training   Return to Work Coordinator Certificate and Qualified First Aider   In-depth expertise in Work Cover, Rehabilitation, Return to Work, and Injury Management legislation   Comprehensive end-to-end injury management, including workers’ compensation   Proven track record in interpreting legislation and developing compliance programs   Exceptional coordination and stakeholder management skills within a matrixed environment (reporting globally with a dotted line to General Manager and Board)  Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities   Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving aptitude   Advanced time management and organisational skills  Proven ability to build business capability in managing mental health and emotional risks in a corporate environment.  Proficient in business continuity planning and emergency management   Skilled in WHS auditing, obtaining accreditations, and driving continuous improvements   Extensive experience implementing WHS/EHS best practices and processes  Flexibility and Availability: In line with Australia’s 'Right to Disconnect' legislation, we recognise and respect employees' right to refuse contact outside of their working hours, unless such refusal is deemed unreasonable. As we operate in an international, matrixed environment, there may be occasions where your role requires participation in business meetings outside of standard hours.
