Job description
About Us
Deep Genomics is at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence and complex biology to transform drug discovery. Our proprietary machine learning platform decodes the complexity of RNA biology to identify novel drug targets, mechanisms and therapeutics inaccessible through traditional methods. With expertise spanning machine learning, bioinformatics, data science, genetics, chemistry and drug development, our multidisciplinary team in Toronto and Cambridge, MA is revolutionizing how medicines are created.
About the role
The Senior Research Associate will join our in vivo Pharmacology team within the Platform Biology group and will be a key player in driving our cutting-edge AI RNA therapeutics discovery platform. In this role, you will be responsible for helping support in vivo therapeutic efficacy testing efforts of novel RNA therapeutics in various animal models. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with in vivo animal handling and rodent models, expertise in tissue collection and sample processing, and some background in molecular biology techniques. Experience or familiarity with RNA-based therapeutic modalities is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative team member who demonstrates scientific curiosity and initiative. The candidate should be comfortable working both mostly independently and within cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced biotech environment.
This position is onsite at our Cambridge, MA site. Key Responsibilities
Coordinate study logistics, including dosing schedules, sample collection plans, reagent preparation, and communication with research partners.
Manage in vivo samples and prepare samples for downstream analysis.
Perform standard molecular biology techniques in a consistent and reproducible manner (e.g. PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, ELISA, Western blot, Jess/Leo capillary-based Western blot, etc.).
Support the development of novel molecular and functional assays on animal samples for our internal therapeutic pipeline.
Analyze, visualize, and summarize study data while maintaining accurate and timely documentation of experiments, protocols/SOPs, sample inventories, and results in an electronic lab notebook (ELN). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project goals and meet company timelines. Basic Qualifications
Degree in Pharmacology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or a related field with a BS and 2-4+ years of relevant experience, a MS and 1-2+ years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience.
Basic understanding of molecular biology and tissue sample processing for RNA and protein readouts.
Hands on experience with rodents, basic injections (ex. tail vein, SubQ, IP, etc.), necropsy, and some in vivo study coordination is mandatory.
Demonstrate ability to execute various ex vivo molecular assays.
Excellent communication, organizational skills and a willingness to learn.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced technical environment. Preferred Qualifications
Past experience with RNA oligonucleotide therapeutics in animal models is preferred.
Basic knowledge of histology and immunohistochemical assays and quantification is a bonus.
Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional teams.
Experience working in an advanced data and computing environment. What We Offer
A collaborative and innovative environment at the frontier of computational biology, machine learning, and drug discovery. Highly competitive compensation, including meaningful stock ownership.
Comprehensive benefits - including health, vision, and dental coverage for employees and families, employee and family assistance program. Flexible work environment - including flexible hours, extended long weekends, holiday shutdown, unlimited personal days.
Maternity and parental leave top-up coverage, as well as new parent paid time off. Focus on learning and growth for all employees - learning and development budget & lunch and learns.
Facilities located in the heart of Toronto - the epicenter of machine learning and AI research and development, and in Kendall Square, Cambridge, Mass. - a global center of biotechnology and life sciences.
