The Opportunity:
As the Sr. Manager, Genetic Disease Patient Advocacy, you will be responsible for supporting the strategy and execution of patient advocacy across Relay Tx's genetic disease portfolio. This individual will create and support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to foster Relay’s connections with the patient community and bring the patient perspective into the company. The Sr. Manager, Genetic Disease Patient Advocacy reports to the Director, Genetic Disease Patient Advocacy.
Your Role: Support the execution of the genetic disease patient advocacy strategic plan to create impact for the patient communities and ensuring alignment with company objectives
Facilitate engagements with patient advocacy groups to gain insights and identify collaboration opportunities and community needs
Lead corporate communication initiatives, including content on corporate channels and additional internal and external communication projects
Support Relay’s presence at patient community events, including conferences, through material development, coordination, and attendance
Aid in development and execution of patient advisory council activities, patient speakers and other patient-centered events
Contribute to the development of patient-facing educational materials
Manage the approval process of material, contracts and patient advocacy groups’ grant and sponsorship requests, partnering with Legal, Regulatory, Clinical, Medical Affairs and Finance to ensure efficient and compliant processes
Champion the patient voice based on understanding the patient journey and perspective to inform internal decision making
Aid in the day-to-day operations of the genetic disease patient advocacy function Your Background: 5+ years of experience with patient advocacy groups and/or professional (medical) associations, including 3+ years in the genetic and/or rare disease community
Experience working for biotech/pharma companies as a liaison with patient advocacy groups and/or professional associations
Demonstrated experience establishing, building and maintaining relationships with patients and patient advocacy organizations
Experience in genetic/rare disease therapeutic area and understanding of the unique needs of the rare disease patient community
Knowledge of compliance, legal, regulatory, and other issues that impact the biopharmaceutical industry and patient engagement and advocacy practices
Experience creating patient-facing material and managing the approval process
Comfort with explaining complex scientific concepts in a simplified, compelling way to a non-medical audience
Ability to work successfully in a matrixed, cross-functional environment, managing projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities
Excellent verbal and written skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors
Travel, as required, to meet with patient advocates and represent Relay Therapeutics at relevant events and conferences. Estimated Salary Range: [$134,000 - $191,000].
The range provided above is based on what we believe to be a reasonable estimate for this job at the time of posting. Actual base salary will depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate’s education, experience, skills and location.
