General Description: BeOne is seeking an Associate Director, Enterprise Data Governance to build, enable, and scale enterprise data governance and stewardship capabilities across the organization. This role is a key member of the Enterprise Data Governance function and is responsible for operationalizing data stewardship within a federated governance model. Working closely with the Head of Enterprise Data Governance, this position will serve as a subject matter expert (SME), translating governance strategy, policy, and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable business processes. The Associate Director will lead domain onboarding, drive stewardship adoption, and oversee strategic governance initiatives. This role partners across business, technology, security, privacy, legal, and compliance teams to establish trusted, compliant, and well-governed data assets that support analytics, AI readiness, regulatory compliance, and business decision-making. The position will also provide leadership to managed service providers and junior governance resources while monitoring stewardship effectiveness through defined metrics and reporting. Essential Functions of the Job: Serve as a SME for enterprise data governance and data stewardship, contributing to governance operating models, policies, standards, processes, and best practices. Lead onboarding of business and data domains into the federated governance framework, including role enablement, stewardship adoption, and governance process implementation. Enable enterprise data discovery, transparency, and reuse through metadata management, data catalog, and data marketplace capabilities. Implement metadata management, business glossary curation, and stewardship workflows. Integrate governance processes across enterprise platforms and business workflows. Influence the adoption of governance and stewardship practices without direct authority by building trusted relationships and aligning stakeholders around shared objectives. Leverage automation and AI-enabled capabilities to improve stewardship efficiency and governance effectiveness. Establish, monitor, and report governance KPIs, initiative progress, stewardship outcomes, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Partner with platform owners, architects, and data teams to ensure governance technologies effectively support stewardship, metadata management, data quality, and compliance requirements. Author governance policies, standards, procedures, and operating models aligned with enterprise data management best practices. Lead stakeholder engagement sessions, governance working groups, and training programs that drive accountability, stewardship, and sustained adoption. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, enterprise data management, or related disciplines. Demonstrated experience serving as a data governance SME within a federated, matrixed, or enterprise-scale operating model. Proven ability to influence outcomes and drive adoption of governance processes, standards, and platforms without formal authority. Experience leading cross-functional governance initiatives involving business, technology, and compliance stakeholders. Hands-on experience implementing and driving adoption of enterprise data governance platforms such as Informatica, Atlan, Alation, or similar solutions. Experience enabling and training data stewards, data owners, and business stakeholders on governance processes and tools. Experience with data classification, metadata management, data quality, and regulatory-aligned governance practices. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to navigate competing priorities across business and technology organizations. Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating team members, managed service providers, or governance resources. Demonstrated ability to translate governance strategy, policy, and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable operating processes. Preferred Qualifications: Experience leading governance platform implementations and stewardship adoption initiatives (Informatica, Atlan, Collibra, Alation, etc…). Strong facilitation skills, including governance workshops, onboarding sessions, and working groups. Experience supporting Data-as-a-Product operating models on modern data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake. Experience governing data within regulated environments, including GxP, clinical, R&D, or pharmaceutical domains. Experience defining and reporting governance and stewardship KPIs to senior leadership. Understanding of how metadata, stewardship, and data quality capabilities enable analytics, AI, and business outcomes. Relevant certifications such as CDMP, DGSP, DCAM, DAMA, or equivalent credentials. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory responsibilities are delivery-focused and include leading and providing direction for our managed service providers on certain projects, while providing strategic oversight and direction to junior data governance resources.
