J&J Innovative Medicine Germany is a commercial entity, responsible for sales, marketing market access and other related activities and is the 2nd largest commercial pharmaceutical company in Germany ad the 2nd largest for J&J globally, representing more than $3.6B in Net Trade Sales annually. In this role, you will be a trusted business partner to the Senior Finance Director Germany as well as the management board, and play a key role in driving financial performance, planning, governance, and strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for end-to-end financial planning, forecasting, and reporting processes, including Business Plan, Planning updates, Latest Thinking rounds, our monthly Integrated Business Planning cycle as well as our Long-Term Strategic Plan. You will oversee actuals analysis, planning, and forecasting for the operating company, while ensuring compliant financial statements, robust controls, and effective risk management, aligning all of this with the local board and the EMEA finance partners. As the primary finance contact for the regional EMEA Finance team, you will collaborate closely with local, regional, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity on assumptions and performance and lead a team of finance professionals. You will also contribute to local and regional EMEA finance and business projects and workstreams that support the ongoing evolution of the finance function and strategy. Key Responsibilities: Lead the end-to-end financial planning, forecasting, and reporting cycles for Germany, including FBP, JU, NU, and IBP with all local and EMEA stakeholders. Own the business planning process and constructively develop and challenge assumptions by applying strong business understanding and financial judgement. Develop strong relationships with the heads and members of all business functions (commercial, marketing, medical, market access, business intelligence, etc). Partner with these business functions within the J&J Innovative Medicine Operating Company to manage operating expenses and sales forecasting, provide financial insights, and support short- and long-term resource allocation decisions. Support product launches, including the implementation of complex agreements and market access decisions. Drive achievement of financial targets through insightful analysis and decision support, and present results to regional finance teams and local management board. Lead a local team of controllers. Attract, develop and manage the team members, and ensure close collaboration with the other finance teams (regional, tax, compliance, audit, global services). Support the team in implementing the global finance transformation programs, digitalization, standardization and simplification. Contribute to the digital finance agenda and support initiatives that shape the future finance operating model. Identify and implement opportunities to improve finance processes, efficiency, and ways of working. Lead projects in close collaboration with stakeholders across multiple functions and levels of the organization to drive the implementation of our strategy and ensure alignment with our goals & objectives. Ensure high standards of compliance across daily finance activities, planning, closing, journal entries, accounting controls, and reconciliations. Qualifications and Experience: The ideal candidate will bring at least 8–10 years of relevant finance experience, with a strong track record in business partnering, forecasting, planning, and business analytics. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required; MBA or Master’s degree preferred. CPA, CFA, CMA or similar local certification is considered an advantage. Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, including knowledge of market dynamics, is preferred. Strong analytical capabilities, accuracy, and attention to detail. Solid expertise in financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analytics, combined with a sound understanding of accounting and internal control principles. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment, manage ambiguity, prioritize competing demands, and deliver results with strong execution discipline. Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively across different cross-functional teams. Strong interest in business processes and finance transformation; experience with digitalization is key. J&J is working with SAP, Anaplan, Power BI, etc. Proactive, action-oriented mindset with the ability to perform effectively under tight timelines. Collaborative team player with a positive mindset, strong agility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel. Fluency in English is required; German language skills are preferred. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, are required. Willing to continue to grow and aspiring an international career is preferred. Demonstrates an understanding of AI concepts and frameworks, including awareness of responsible and ethical AI practices, and has experience generating effective prompts to boost efficiency and productivity.
