Job Title Senior Area Medical Manager, Specialty, Hepatology Line Manager - Therapy area Head Medical Affairs, Specialty and General Medicine Job Purpose - Provide scientific and technical expertise of the highest standards for local medical information, including interactions with Key External Experts (KEEs) and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) Provide medical and scientific input and information for business strategy for the region. Key Responsibilities - People Leadership & Coaching – Lead, coach and develop MSLs to build strong scientific capabilities, engagement skills and career progression. Medical Strategy Execution – Translate the Medical Affairs strategy into clear field priorities, activities and execution plans for the MSL team. Scientific Engagement Leadership – Drive high-quality, non-promotional scientific engagement with External Experts (EEs) and healthcare professionals. Field Team Performance Management – Set objectives, monitor KPIs and provide regular performance feedback to ensure strong field execution and impact. Capability Building – Identify capability gaps and implement training/coaching programs across scientific knowledge, engagement excellence and strategic thinking. External Expert Strategy – Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key scientific experts and ensure appropriate expert mapping and engagement planning. Insights & Evidence Generation – Lead systematic capture, synthesis and communication of field insights to inform medical strategy, evidence generation and business decisions. Cross-functional Collaboration – Partner effectively with Medical, Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access and other functions while maintaining appropriate compliance boundaries. Compliance & Governance – Ensure the MSL team operates consistently with GSK policies, applicable regulations, scientific standards and Medical Affairs governance. Strategic & Innovative Leadership – Identify opportunities to improve MSL effectiveness, simplify ways of working, leverage data/digital tools and demonstrate measurable impact of Medical Affairs. Educational Background Minimum Level of Education - MBBS with post graduate qualification Preferred Level of Education - Post graduate qualification in Pharmacology / Public Health Job-Related Experience & Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience required Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, local language Experience of presenting scientific topics at different settings A sound understanding of the principles and practice of ICH-GCP and internal SOPs. Well-demonstrated ability to understand scientific methods and experimental design. Minimum 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in relevant TA / Specialty TA (Preference in the Gastroenterology / Hepatology therapy area) Other Job-Related Skills/Background General Competencies Presentation skills at Scientific meetings Communication skills, both verbal and written Technical writing skills Keep up to date with new developments Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback Build and maintain relationships with colleagues Share knowledge with other team members Work as part of a team to reach common goals Deliver creative ideas for continuous improvement Develop good relationships with key opinion leaders Team Management Number of Direct Reports: 2-3. Education Qualifications MBBS, MD (Postgraduate) Preferred: MD with minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role Area of Specialisation: Pharmacology / Paediatrics / General Medicine / Community Medicine, etc. Experience & Skills Medical degree with pharmaceutical industry or relevant experience desirable Relevant TA experience is desirable Understanding of regulations related to promotional practices Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Able to operate as a team player Minimum 3 years in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in the Respiratory therapy area Ability to work in a highly technical and complex environment involving direct interfacing with sales, marketing, external customers, and other functions Ability to adapt to evolving regulations, GSK policies, promotional practices, and scientific engagement requirements Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills across internal and external customers Skills Digital Fluency, Enterprise Thinking, External Stakeholder Management, High Impact Communication, Patient Impact Why GSK?
