JOB DESCRIPTION: The Opportunity Abbott seeks a Global Strategy and Insights Director for its Cardiac Rhythm Management Global Marketing team. This integral leader will be responsible for establishing and leading a global strategy and insights function and play a critical role in shaping strategic direction, identifying growth opportunities, and driving short-term and long-term goals for a billion-dollar, global business. This Director will bring clarity to our global markets, our market share in different countries and regions, and help track our competition's development. This experience leader will lead the team that drives our market research efforts and gathers all third-party data to help the global commercial teams better understand market trends. As part of the executive leadership team, this Director will help develop our strategy for short and long-term growth, while being involved in organic and inorganic market growth options. Finally, this Director will help drive strategic plans and tactically execute the key insights this team delivers. Location: Austin, TX or Sylmar, CA What You’ll Work On People Management: Lead the Global Strategy and Insights organization within the Cardiac Rhythm Management business unit, including setting goals, defining priorities, hiring talent, championing customer-centric culture, cross-function and cross-region collaboration, building capabilities, and managing budget and operations to achieve business results. Product Management: Initial analysis and on-going product management of long-tail lateral flow product lines, including kill/cure/continue (lifecycle management) recommendations. Strategic & Business Planning: Provide strategic leadership, planning, and direction to the organization to drive growth and profitability through annual strategic planning and ongoing strategic initiatives; guide franchise and functional plan, ensuring the alignment with BU strategy. Identify market opportunities that can differentiate the business from competition and enable profitable growth; drive portfolio optimization of both new and existing products. Market Modeling & Forecasting: Build a consistent fact base of market size, share and growth across franchises and regions in the Abbott ID business; drive cross-functional alignment and form the “single source of truth” for OEM, LBE, NPI and business assessments. Market Intelligence: Assess customer needs, conduct competitive analysis, and identify enabling products, technologies, and business levers to optimize performance and enable revenue and margin growth. Market Research: Capture customer insights and articulate market landscape, such as unmet needs to refine value proposition, pricing elasticity to drive commercialization, and ethnography to identify drivers and barriers for new product adoption; manage complex, large, or difficult data analytics and research projects. Select and manage ongoing relationships with external research agencies and consultants to ensure the organization receives satisfactory service standards; develop and manage contracting for data and market research. Competitive Intelligence: Strengthen Abbott competitive positioning by capturing industry trends, stakeholder dynamics, and competitor activities in a timely and action-oriented manner, such as scenario planning (war gaming), weekly market surveillance, industry conference intelligence, and deep dive on competitors, products and critical events. Partner cross-functionally with key stakeholders in Finance, Marketing, and Commercial Excellence. Experience You'll Bring Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration or related field. Minimum of 12 years’ work experience. Five (5) or more years of forecasting, planning, project management and team management experience. Demonstrated market intelligence knowledge, skills and techniques and sales forecasting experience. Experience with advanced forecasting techniques, such as regression analysis, cluster analysis, conjoint analysis and discrete choice modeling. Strong knowledge and capability in mathematics, statistics and computer skills related to modeling. Experience interfacing effectively both domestically and internationally. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience interacting effectively with senior management and partnering with others in a matrixed environment. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree (± 18 years) MBA preferred due to the position’s heavy involvement in solving business problems throughout the division, and broad-based understanding of business operations and current market environment is critical to effective performance. Management consulting or healthcare strategy experience preferred Global experience in a finance or planning capacity preferred.
