Your role at Baxter The Analyst, Customer Service (US Payroll/Tax) is essential to maintaining accuracy and quality in our payroll tax function. You will handle exact tax setup, withholding, reporting, reconciliation, and adherence to regulations across federal, state, and local levels. This position fits a meticulous individual aiming to develop a career in payroll, tax, accounting, or human resources operations. You will work with multi-state payroll rules, comprehend multiple taxation tiers, and guarantee prompt payroll tax filings and payments, supporting seamless operations. What you'll be doing Assist with payroll tax inquiries for employees through phone, chat, email, and/or tickets. Support employees working in multiple states and local taxing jurisdictions in the United States and Puerto Rico. Manage the setup and maintenance of employee tax profiles, including federal, state, local, county, city, school district, and other applicable withholding requirements. Review payroll data to ensure tax withholdings, taxable wages, deductions, and employer tax liabilities are accurate before payroll processing is finalized. Prepare, review, and submit payroll tax payments, returns, and filings on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Reconcile payroll tax reports, wage records, general ledger data, and third-party tax provider reports. Research and resolve payroll tax notices, agency inquiries, discrepancies, and employee tax questions under the mentorship of senior team members. Maintain accurate payroll tax records, documentation, filing confirmations, and audit support materials. Track updates in federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and revise procedures or reference documents accordingly. Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, Accounting, and external tax vendors to support compliant and timely payroll operations. Assist with year-end payroll tax activities, including W-2 review, taxable wage validation, and jurisdictional reporting support. What you'll bring Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, human resources, or a related field preferred. 2 years of background in payroll, tax, accounting, finance, HR operations, and customer support. Basic understanding of US tax (Federal, State, and Local), Social Security, and Medicare; and payroll concepts, deductions, or compliance processes. Strong focus on detail and capability to examine data for accuracy and thoroughness. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and standard office applications. Expected to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion. Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to handle recurring deadlines; clear written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience using payroll HRIS or tax filing systems. Interest in pursuing payroll-related certifications, such as Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional.
