Meet the Team: We are looking for a motivated and experienced Software Development Lead to spearhead the establishment and growth of our new R&D Software design center in Bengaluru (Bangalore), India. This role is crucial in setting up our software development and test operations, seeking out the best talent to join in our mission, and fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight, guiding the direction of our software product development and test automation initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of high-quality solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and shape the future of our R&D reference arch and platform software efforts in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. You will play a crucial role in the creation of new products and features, driving forward our technological advancements and market competitiveness. The portfolio you will be delivering includes mobile apps (iOS and Android), cloud-based data platforms, web applications, software test frameworks, automation, and test scripts. Where you come in: Lead, develop, and mentor a software engineering team delivering mobile and cloud software solutions supporting Dexcom products and services. Establish and communicate team priorities and execution plans aligned with product and organizational objectives. Partner closely with Product Management, Program Management, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, Systems Engineering, and other stakeholders to define requirements, plan development activities, and ensure successful product delivery. Build and maintain a high-performing engineering team focused on accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Drive project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and execution across assigned software initiatives. Ensure software development activities comply with applicable quality system requirements, medical device regulations, cybersecurity standards, and company policies. Drive software development best practices across mobile and cloud applications, including iOS and Android development, cloud services, Agile methodologies, automated testing, CI/CD, secure development practices, and performance monitoring . Provide technical guidance and contribute to software architecture and design decisions across mobile and cloud systems to ensure scalability, maintainability, reliability, security, and product quality. Manage team staffing, hiring, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and resource planning activities. Use key performance indicators (KPIs), engineering metrics, and operational data to monitor team effectiveness, delivery performance, and product quality and identify opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with engineering teams across the organization to manage interfaces and dependencies, share knowledge, improve development practices, and support successful end-to-end product delivery. Identify and manage technical, schedule, quality, security, and execution risks, escalating significant issues and tradeoffs when appropriate. Partner with Quality, V&V, Cybersecurity, and other engineering functions to ensure software solutions meet functional, performance, reliability, security, and regulatory requirements. Support audit activities, inspections, and regulatory submissions as required. Foster strong cross-functional relationships and advocate for engineering quality, technical excellence, effective execution, and continuous improvement. What makes you successful: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 8+ years of software development experience, including experience delivering complex software products. 3+ years of people management experience leading software engineers. Demonstrated success leading, developing, and mentoring a software engineering team. Strong experience with mobile and/or cloud application development, including iOS, Android, cloud services, or other connected software platforms. Experience delivering software products through the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through development, verification, release, and maintenance. Experience managing engineering priorities, schedules, dependencies, risks, resources, and delivery commitments. Strong understanding of software architecture, software development methodologies, automated testing, and software quality practices. Ability to provide technical guidance and effectively evaluate software architecture, engineering decisions, technical risks, and tradeoffs. Understanding of distributed and connected software systems, including interactions and dependencies between mobile applications, cloud services, APIs, and other system components. Proven ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Systems Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, V&V, Cybersecurity, and other engineering organizations. Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Experience building and developing high-performing engineering teams.
