The Opportunity This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location. The Senior Manager, HR Communications, helps connect Abbott’s 120,000+ employees with the numerous development and benefits programs offered by the company. The role serves as a relationship manager to assigned Practice Areas within HR. The role provides strategic consulting to HR leadership, project and department leads and develops project plans to support global HR programs and local communication strategies. This position works in an energetic team setting, balances multiple priorities and may manage the work of others, directly or indirectly. The role reports to the Director, HR Communications. WHAT YOU’LL DO The Sr Manager, HR Communications will: Serve as a relationship manager supporting the HR mergers and acquisitions team, the Global HR Services team, D&I and special projects as assigned. Develop communication strategies and plans to guide the creation, design and implementation of HR programs and materials specific to mergers or acquisitions. Advise and support HR leaders with key communications. Ensure all HR Communications are consistent and aligned with Abbott's corporate brand identity, employment offering, strategic direction, business and leadership philosophies, employer branding and value proposition. Participate in efforts to support and increase employee engagement in collaboration with employee communications and marketing teams. Develop communication strategies and plans to guide the creation, design and implementation of communication campaigns and channels to reach employees in various workplace settings, such as manufacturing, field and offices. Effectively manage relationships with internal and external communication partners (Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, HR personnel, outside contractors, etc.). Work with HR Communication team members to ensure a cohesive approach to the comprehensive, global HR Communications strategy. Position Accountability / Scope The Sr Manager, HR Communications, serves primarily as a relationship manager to the HR mergers and acquisition team, but will also provide communications counsel and support as needed for other practice areas, such as Global HR Services, and corporate projects. The role has responsibility for developing plans and strategies designed to achieve results, writing and producing a variety of communications materials, and managing projects. The Sr. Manager, HR Communications, must closely influence clients and coordinate with teammates to meet deadlines and HR Communication goals. This position is an integral team member of the HR Communications practice center. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING Required Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, public relations or other communication-related major. Minimum Experience/Training Required 6-10 years of experience with increasing responsibility in multiple communication roles in corporate or agency setting. Experience working with senior management is preferred. Demonstrated ability to deliver strategic counsel as well as tactical excellence in employee communications, executive communications and relationship management. Prior experience with HR communications preferred. Requires strong project management skills, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, diplomacy, learning agility, and multitasking ability. Some marketing experience is preferred. The base pay for this position is $129,300.00 – $258,700.00 In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
