Check us out on LinkedIn: Medtronic ENT In this role, the R&D Electronics Technician IV will provide advanced technical support to Research and Development engineers in the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and transfer to manufacturing of medical devices and associated test equipment supporting the ENT business. The R&D Electronics Technician IV serves as a senior technical contributor who works with a high degree of independence, leads complex prototype and laboratory activities, and provides technical guidance to engineers and other technicians. The position may assume responsibility for defined technical workstreams, laboratory improvements, and test-system development. Responsibilities: · Provide advanced technical support for the development and improvement of medical devices, electronic assemblies, electromechanical systems, and associated test equipment. · Build, modify, troubleshoot, and test complex electronic and electromechanical prototypes. · Independently plan and execute assigned technical activities while coordinating priorities with R&D engineers and project teams. · Review electrical schematics, PCB layouts, bills of material, engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation. · Use Altium Designer or similar ECAD tools to review schematics and PCB layouts, identify design or documentation issues, support component updates, and assist with the preparation of design documentation. · Develop, modify, troubleshoot, and maintain LabVIEW -based automated test systems, including test interfaces, data-acquisition configurations, and test scripts. · Develop engineering test methods and protocols, conduct testing, collect and analyze data, and compile results into clear technical reports. · Conduct verification testing and maintain accurate, traceable test records. · Diagnose complex electronic, electromechanical, and system-level issues using structured troubleshooting methods. · Perform board-level rework, including soldering and replacement of through-hole and surface-mount components. · Design and build electronic cables, fixtures, adapters, harnesses, and electromechanical prototypes. · Operate advanced electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, digital multimeters, and data-acquisition systems. · Perform calibration, alignment, modification, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and test systems. · Support component selection, material procurement, prototype builds, and coordination with suppliers. · Support design transfer, manufacturing readiness, sustaining engineering, and product investigation activities. · Identify and implement improvements to laboratory equipment, test methods, documentation, safety, and workflow efficiency. · Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced technicians. · Perform all activities in compliance with the Quality System and applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements. Specialized Knowledge and Skills · Advanced competency in electronic and electromechanical design, layout, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting. · Advanced ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, PCB drawings, mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical procedures. · Proficiency with through-hole and surface-mount soldering, electronic rework, cable fabrication, and prototype assembly. · Advanced use of electronic test equipment and laboratory instrumentation. · Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics, signal integrity, data acquisition, power supplies, sensors, and electronic interfaces. · Ability to independently diagnose complex technical problems and recommend practical solutions. · Strong technical documentation, data analysis, and report-writing skills. · Ability to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities in a fast-paced R&D environment. · Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams. Must Have: · Requires 5+ years of relevant technical experience, which may include a combination of practical experience and applicable training, education, or certification. · Significant experience supporting electronic or electromechanical product development, laboratory testing, manufacturing, or sustaining engineering. · Demonstrated experience building, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing electronic assemblies and electromechanical systems. · Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision and independently execute complex technical assignments. · Equivalent combinations of relevant education and technical experience may be considered. Nice to Have: · Associate degree in electronics technology, electrical engineering technology, mechatronics, biomedical equipment technology, or a related technical discipline. · Experience using Altium Designer or another ECAD platform to review electrical schematics, PCB layouts, component information, and engineering documentation. · Experience developing, modifying, troubleshooting, or maintaining LabVIEW -based test automation and data-acquisition systems. · Experience supporting medical-device development or another regulated industry. · Experience with design verification, engineering characterization, test-fixture develop
