Job Function: Market Access Job Sub Function: Pricing Job Category: People Leader All Job Posting Locations: Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom Job Description: Tender Lead – UK & Ireland |Johnson & Johnson MedTech | Orthopedics DePuy Synthes – Moving the people who move us Leeds, United Kingdom (hybrid role) At DePuy Synthes, we see the person beyond the procedure. As one of the world's most comprehensive orthopaedics companies, we exist to move the people who move us – restoring mobility, confidence and quality of life for patients around the world. Our innovations span joint reconstruction, trauma, extremities, craniomaxillofacial, spinal surgery and sports medicine, alongside our VELYS™ digital surgery portfolio – engineered for performance and fine-tuned for feeling. Behind every one of those solutions is a team of people who care deeply about the difference our work makes. Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes. We are looking for talented people who want to make a global impact and who share our commitment to putting patients first – people who bring their whole selves to work and support one another to do their best. About the Team The Contracts & Tenders function sits at the heart of how DePuy Synthes serves its customers across the UK and Ireland. The team is responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant and competitive tender submissions, and for making sure that every award we win is contracted and priced correctly, quickly, and without friction for the customer. We are bringing our Tender and Pricing functions together into a single Commercial Capabilities team. That gives us, for the first time, end-to-end ownership of the journey from tender through to live pricing – and this role is central to making that work. Purpose of the Role We are looking for a Tender Lead – UK & Ireland to own and elevate the end-to-end tender and award process across the UK and Ireland. Reporting to the Commercial Capabilities Lead – UK/Ireland, this role is accountable for building best-in-class tender processes, documents and standardised content, for leading a small team to deliver high-quality, compliant and competitive submissions, and for owning the journey from award through to correctly implemented, live pricing. This is one of two leadership roles within Commercial Capabilities, working as a peer of the Pricing Lead. Our Commercial Excellence colleagues and the sales organisation own the customer conversation and win the business. This role owns everything that happens next – and is the named point of contact for the commercial organisation on every tender and award. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of the UK and Ireland tender landscape, a track record of implementing new processes and challenging the status quo, and the leadership presence to develop their people and influence stakeholders across the business. How this person keeps the business informed, and how they refine our ways of working, will largely be theirs to shape – we are looking for an owner, not an administrator. The ultimate measure of success will be the acceleration of profitable, compliant growth through faster, higher-quality submissions, a materially shorter and more visible award-to-live journey, demonstrable process improvement, and consistent internal and external stakeholder satisfaction. What to Expect : End-to-End Ownership Own the journey from tender opportunity or award through to live, correctly implemented pricing – holding accountability for the outcome rather than for individual steps within it. Ensure every tender and award has a clear, visible owner within the team from start to finish. Own end-to-end cycle time and the service standards we commit to, and report performance against them. Identify and remove delays, handoffs and rework across the jourey, including where they sit outside the team’s direct control. Process, Content & Standards Build and maintain best-in-class tender and award processes that are efficient, compliant, scalable and easy to do business with. Design and own a suite of tender documents, templates and standard content, in conjunction with legal and the business units, keeping it clear, current and reusable. Ensure processes work consistently across all UK and Ireland markets, with the flexibility for each to apply its own commercial approach. Challenge the status quo and implement new ways of working, including automation and system improvements, to raise the standard of the function. Tender Delivery & Quality Own the quality and compliance standard for submissions, personally reviewing the most complex and highest-value bids. Bring an evidence-based view to bid decisions, balancing win probability, resource cost and commercial fit. Lead tender debriefs and feed lessons learned back into process and content improvements. Partner closely with the Pricing Lead so that pricing strategy and tender execution are aligned before submission rather than after. Business
