A Day in the Life The Service & Repair team delivers service, maintenance, and repair support across a diverse portfolio of Surgical and Cardiac capital equipment used in hospital and clinical environments. This includes high-speed drills, Electrosurgical Units (ESUs), Cardiac surgery equipment, and other capital medical devices. The team plays an important role in helping ensure equipment reliability, safety, and performance, directly supporting healthcare professionals and patient care. This role is based in Horsley Park, Sydney, Australia, and is primarily onsite. It also offers the opportunity to travel regularly to customer sites, hospitals, and healthcare facilities within the assigned territory to provide hands-on service, maintenance, and repair support. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Associate Technical Services Specialist provides technical service and repair support for surgical and cardiac capital equipment. The role is responsible for maintaining equipment performance through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and customer technical support while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. Primary Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on high-speed drills, Electrosurgical Units (ESUs), cardiac surgery equipment, and other assigned medical devices in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and complete corrective repairs to restore equipment performance and minimise customer downtime. Conduct equipment inspections, functional testing, and verification activities to ensure products operate safely and effectively. Document service activities, maintenance records, repairs, and parts utilisation in accordance with quality system and regulatory requirements. Support equipment installations, upgrades, and product evaluations at customer facilities. Provide technical support and product-related guidance to customers, healthcare professionals, and internal stakeholders. Coordinate service activities and communicate repair status, technical findings, and recommendations to customers and internal teams. Maintain service tools, test equipment, and spare parts inventory required to support field service operations. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with 0 years of experience, OR Diploma with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR Trade/Vocational qualification with 4+ years of experience in field service, biomedical equipment servicing, electronics, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline. Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electromechanical, electrical, biomedical, or medical device equipment. Ability to travel regularly to hospitals and customer sites within the assigned territory. Valid driver's licence and ability to transport service tools and equipment as required. Ability to maintain accurate service documentation and comply with quality and regulatory requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience servicing surgical equipment, Electrosurgical Units (ESUs), high-speed drills, cardiac surgery equipment, or other medical capital equipment. Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices, field service operations, and technical troubleshooting methodologies. Experience working within healthcare, biomedical engineering, medical device, or regulated environments. Experience supporting equipment installations, upgrades, and customer training activities. Familiarity with service management systems, maintenance tracking tools, and quality management processes.
