Sr. Manager Strategic External Supplier planning and pricing is primarily responsible for leading business process improvements, driving high-impact initiatives, and aligning outcomes with organizational goals by guiding and developing teams and collaborating with senior leadership In this role, a typical day will include: Planning & pricing Lead external supply planning — aligning demand, capacity, and supply commitments across strategic external partners Manage external supplier pricing and cost — analyzing cost drivers, developing cost models, and supporting negotiations to ensure pricing aligns with agreements and business objectives Develop forecasts, analytics, and reporting to inform external supply, cost, and pricing decisions Lead annual budgeting, long-term strategy planning and forecasting P&L ownership Strategic supplier & agreement management Support and advance key Master Supply Agreement (MSA) initiatives with strategic manufacturing partners Serve as a primary point of coordination between Alcon and external manufacturing partners, building strong, collaborative relationships and driving supplier performance Partner with strategic CMOs on supply commitments, capacity, quality, and continuous improvement Project leadership & transfer execution Lead the planning, coordination, insourcing contract-manufacturer (CMO) transfer activities— owning financial,timelines, milestones, deliverables, and cross-functional dependencies end to end Serve as the dedicated resource governing complex external manufacturing projects across the External Supply Organization (ESO) Establish project governance, stage-gate reviews, and risk-management routines for external manufacturing transfers and initiatives Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks to schedule, cost, quality, and supply continuity throughout the transfer lifecycle Business process development & improvement Develop, document, and manage business processes that support the objectives of the External Supply Organization Identify and create standardized processes that strengthen the planning, coordination, and governance of external manufacturing Implement and manage cross-departmental business process improvements to increase efficiency, consistency, and control Cross-functional collaboration & governance Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Finance to execute transfers and initiatives Communicate project status, risks, and key decisions to senior leadership and stakeholders Ensure external manufacturing activities meet applicable quality, regulatory (GxP), and compliance requirements What You’ll Bring to Alcon: Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs) The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English 7 Years of Relevant Experience 5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership How You Can Thrive at Alcon: See your career like never before with focused growth and development opportunities Join Alcon’s mission to provide outstanding, innovative products and solutions to improve sight, improve lives, and grow your career!
