Salary Range: €27,160.00 - €50,440.00 Job Description Summary Our R&D unit in Mengeš is looking for a motivated scientist in the field of Physico-chemical analytics (PCA) to join us and help us develop a diverse portfolio of biotherapeutic modalities. As a Senior Scientist you must demonstrate a broad and in-depth analytical understanding of PCA to evaluate the developability of various biologics modalities covered by Novartis Biomedical Research and Development units, ranging from traditional antibodies to advanced biologics formats and mixed modalities. You will support cell line development, upstream and downstream processing, formulation studies development. Job Description Key Responsibilities: Analyze and characterize biological candidates by spectroscopy (UV/ turbidity), capillary electrophoresis (CZE/CE-SDS), calorimetry (DSC/nanoDSF), light scattering technologies (DLS), mass spectrometry and viscometry including sample preparation, analysis, evaluation, interpretation and reporting Prepare and communicate analytical and results at internal and external meetings. Set up and perform preformulation assessments including forced degradation and early stability studies Author lab procedures and technology evaluations Accurately and timely process samples, contribute to result interpretation and prepare summary presentations and timely document all data in electronic lab journal and databases Actively undertake organizational responsibilities in lab organization, including maintaining equipment and implementation of new equipment Minimum Requirements - What you will bring to the role MSc degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry or a related field with at least 3 years of relevant work experience in industry, or BSc University degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry or a related field with with at least 6 years of relevant work experience in industry. Expertise in physical-chemical analysis or other biophysical analysis, such as spectroscopy, calorimetry, viscometry and/or light scattering technologies. High learning ability to acquire expertise in new technologies and technical equipment Proven experience in successfully prioritizing and keeping timelines Quality-, result- and customer-oriented working style Reliable and flexible team player, accustomed to sharing tasks and projects Fluency in English (oral/written) Desired requirements: Expertise with hands-on experience of setting up pre-formulation assessments is not mandatory but considered a plus. Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role: 27,160.00 to 50,440.00 EUR The salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. In addition to your base salary, you will be eligible for benefits listed below: Annual bonus for all employees: 10 % of annual base salary. Holiday allowance: In 2025 it amounted to €2,496 (net). For 2026 it amounts to €2,678.28 (net). Yearly performance-based bonus: In 2025 it amounted to €2,538.64 (gross), including the winter allowance.
