DESCRIPTION: The Senior Product Manager, HID Sample Prep, will lead the strategy, portfolio management, and commercial execution for Human Identification (HID) sample preparation supporting forensic workflows. This role will be responsible for driving portfolio growth, innovation, customer engagement, and lifecycle management across extraction, purification, quantitation, and workflow automation solutions. The successful candidate will partner closely with R&D, operations, commercial teams, marketing, and customers to define and execute product strategies that address evolving forensic laboratory and public safety needs. The role requires a strong understanding of forensic genomics workflows, molecular biology technologies, and customer needs across the HID market. The Senior Product Manager will play a critical leadership role in shaping future portfolio investments and delivering differentiated workflow solutions globally. What will you do? Key Responsibilities Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership Define and execute the long-term strategy and roadmap for HID sample preparation and forensic products Drive portfolio growth through market analysis, customer insights, and competitive intelligence Identify unmet customer needs and prioritize innovation opportunities across extraction, purification, quantitation, and automation workflows Lead lifecycle management activities including product planning, positioning, pricing, forecasting, and end-of-life decisions Develop business cases and investment recommendations for new product development initiatives Customer & Market Engagement Build strong relationships with forensic laboratories, government agencies, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and strategic partners Gather voice-of-customer feedback and translate insights into actionable product requirements Represent the business at scientific conferences, customer workshops, and industry events Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments within the forensic and HID markets Cross-Functional Leadership Partner with cross-functional teams across R&D, operations, quality, regulatory, supply chain, applications, and commercial organizations Drive successful execution of product development programs from concept through commercialization Partner with regional commercial teams to support product adoption, training, and sales enablement Ensure alignment between portfolio priorities, operational execution, and commercial objectives Business Performance Own portfolio performance metrics including revenue, profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction Drive successful global product launches and go-to-market strategies Support demand planning, forecasting, and long-range business planning Deliver portfolio growth while balancing customer needs, operational scalability, and profitability objectives How will you get here? Education Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or related scientific discipline required Advanced degree (MS, MBA, or PhD) preferred Experience Minimum 7&#43; years of experience in product management, marketing, scientific applications, or commercial leadership within life sciences or molecular diagnostics Experience with DNA extraction, purification, quantitation, qPCR, or forensic genomics workflows preferred Demonstrated success managing product portfolios and leading cross-functional initiatives Experience working in a global matrix organization and with external partners Strong customer engagement and strategic planning experience Preferred Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of forensic DNA workflows and human identification applications Understanding of sample preparation chemistries, quantitation technologies, and laboratory automation workflows Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and business planning capabilities Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational alignment Experience interacting with forensic laboratories and government customers preferred Ability to travel globally as required Key Success Metrics Portfolio revenue growth and profitability Successful execution of product roadmap initiatives Customer satisfaction and adoption metrics Market share growth within HID sample prep segment Successful product launches and commercialization outcomes Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $155,900.00–$208,000.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
