The Sr. Manager, AMER LAN Engineering Lead designs, deploys, and maintains complex enterprise network infrastructures. They lead technical projects, mentor engineering staff, and manage network availability, security, and performance. This hands-on role requires high-level IT architecture with daily network engineering and operations tasks, along with team management of both Colleagues and Contractors. The role blends people leadership with deep technical ownership: leading a team of engineers and contractors while personally driving architecture decisions, automation practices, and regional investment priorities. As the AMER lead, this person partners closely with counterparts in EMEA and APAC to develop standardized, globally scalable network solutions, and serves as the global owner of IP address management (IPAM) allocations across the entire enterprise network. Success in this role means a resilient, secure, and automated regional network that aligns to a consistent global standard. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES People & Team Leadership Manage the team - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of LAN engineers (Colleagues and contractors) across the Americas region. Own People eXperience (PX) & administrative processes - Responsible for all PX and administrative documentation, including onboarding, timekeeping, contractor agreements, and record-keeping. Drive performance - Conduct performance reviews, set goals and development plans, provide ongoing coaching, and manage staffing and resourcing decisions. Manage Projects - Oversee project scopes, deliverables, and performance, ensuring alignment with regional and global standards. Architecture, Design & Investment Lead architecture and design - Own and facilitate architecture and design discussions for LAN and wireless infrastructure across the region. Drive decisions - Translate design discussions into concrete decisions on hardware purchases, technology selection, and regional projects. Own the roadmap - Define and prioritize the network roadmap, balancing lifecycle, capacity, security, and cost. Manage projects & budget - Lead regional network projects end to end and provide input into budgeting and capital planning. Automation, IaC & CI/CD Automate the network - Champion network automation using Python, Ansible, GitHub, and other Automation Tools to reduce manual effort and configuration drift. Practice Infrastructure as Code - Manage network configuration and infrastructure as code, using GitHub for version control, review, and collaboration. Build CI/CD workflows - Establish a network design that allows for the creation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for network changes, including automated validation and testing. Global IPAM Ownership Own global IPAM allocation process - Serve as the global lead for IP address management (IPAM) allocations across the entire enterprise network. Govern the address space - Define allocation standards, maintain accuracy of records, and coordinate IP planning across all regions. Global Collaboration & Scale Partner across regions - Workwith peers in EMEA and APAC to design solutions that scale consistently across a global, multinational enterprise. Standardize globally - Contribute to global network standards, reference architectures, and best practices, ensuring regional alignment. Represent AMER - Act as the regional point of accountability in global network governance and planning forums. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree required in a technical field such as Information Technology or Computer Science/Engineering 6+ years of experience in a Sr. Network Engineering role Design, manage, and troubleshoot complex large-scale networks. IPv4/IPv6 subnetting, administration and planning Expert level Industry certifications (CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent expertise) A strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills Process oriented with great documentation skills. Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving and troubleshooting ability. Self-starter with the ability to independently prioritize and complete multiple tasks with little to no supervision. Strong knowledge of LAN and WLAN technologies Experience managing vendor relationships and technology procurement at scale. Proven experience leading a team of engineers and/or contractors, including performance management and HR/administrative responsibilities. Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree major in a technical field such as Information Technology or Computer Science/Engineering Strong proficiency in Python and Ansible for network automation. Experience managing a financial budget. Experience operating in a large, regulated enterprise environment (biopharma, life sciences, or similarly regulated industry a plus). Professional level Industry certifications (CCNP, CCSE, CISSP, or equivalent expertise) Experience with design/implementation/troubleshooting Cisco/Meraki/Aruba Wireless technologies, Cisco Identity Service Engine, Cisco Catalyst Center, Ekahau App Suite Experience with security access architectures (ISE/SGT, Adaptive Policy, Zero-Trust Network Access) Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service ITSM Tools - Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow</s
