Read more: careers.bms.com/working-with-us . Summary: Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking a Software Engineer to join the AI Engineering and Enablement team at their New Jersey office. This role will focus on developing, testing, maintaining, and enhancing software applications and components that support business and technology needs. The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on programming experience, and familiarity with modern development practices. The candidate should also be comfortable using AI-assisted development tools or AI agents to help write, test, debug, and improve code as part of day-to-day software development. This role is best suited for someone with at least 2 years of software development experience and at least 1 year of exposure to AI-related development, AI-enabled applications, or AI-assisted software engineering. Key Responsibilities: Develop, test, maintain, and enhance software applications and components using modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, or similar languages. Write clean, secure, maintainable, and efficient code following established software development standards and best practices. Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and business users to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues, escalating risks or complex problems when needed. Participate in code reviews and contribute to improvements in code quality, testing, and development practices. Support integration of applications with APIs, databases, cloud services, and software tools. Use AI-assisted development tools or AI agents to support coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, agile engineering practices, and secure application development. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience. Minimum of 1 year of exposure to AI development, AI-enabled applications, automation, or AI-assisted software engineering. Experience with at least one modern programming language, preferably Python. Understanding of software development fundamentals, including application design, APIs, testing, debugging, and version control. Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems. Basic understanding of cloud-based application development, preferably AWS. Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway, or CloudWatch. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment practices. Exposure to REST APIs, microservices, serverless applications, or application integrations. Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases. Experience using AI-assisted development tools or AI agents in day-to-day software development. Compensation Overview: Princeton - NJ - US: $96,560 - $117,008 &#xa;Seattle - WA: $106,220 - $128,709&#xa; The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience.
