This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters. The Position Job Description: Technical Lead – AEM Platform Team Introduction: Digital Presence Platform & Solutions (DPPS) is a part of Roche Digital Technology (RDT) and provides the foundational capabilities for Roche’s global internet ecosystem—encompassing web content publication, social media integration, external content repositories, and web domains management. While the development and operations of individual, use-case-specific solutions remains decentralized, the DPPS team provides a common layer that is being leveraged by business-facing IT teams in order to drive consistency and avoid duplication. Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Technical Lead – AEM Platform to spearhead our digital experience infrastructure. In this role, you will bridge the gap between Platform Development and Platform Operations, ensuring our Adobe Experience Manager ecosystem is highly available, scalable, and secure. You will own the Low-Level Design (LLD), manage our dual setup of AEM On-Premise (AWS-hosted) and AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS), and lead a dedicated team of engineers to drive platform reliability and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities 1. Architecture, Configuration & Low-Level Design (LLD) Design Ownership: Translate high-level architectural blueprints into actionable Low-Level Design (LLD) documents for AEM infrastructure, custom OSGi configurations, integrations, and deployment pipelines. Dual-Platform Management: Configure, optimize, and maintain both AEM On-Premise (Author/Publish/Dispatcher clusters) and AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) environments. Cloud Migration & Hybrid Strategy: Govern the configuration paradigms unique to AEMaaCS (e.g., Cloud Manager pipelines, immutable infrastructure, Adobe IMS) while maintaining legacy setups. 2. AEM Infrastructure & Operations (AWS Cloud) Cloud Infrastructure: Manage and optimize the AWS footprint hosting the AEM environments, ensuring tight alignment with AEM best practices. Component Configuration: Oversee the setup of AWS services including EC2, S3 (for data store), EFS/EBS, Application Load Balancers (ALB/ELB), Route 53, and CloudFront/CDNs. Cost & Performance Tuning: Continuously review AWS resource utilization to balance high performance with cost efficiency. 3. Platform Reliability, Uptime & Performance SLA/SLO Safeguarding: Own the platform's availability, uptime, and performance metrics. Proactive Monitoring: Implement and refine robust logging, alerting, and monitoring frameworks using tools like Splunk, New Relic, Datadog, or AWS CloudWatch. Incident & Problem Management: Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical platform incidents and establish rigorous Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability (HA) strategies. 4. Team Leadership & Delivery Oversight Dual-Stream Governance: Direct, mentor, and monitor the platform team across two critical streams: Platform Development: Automation scripting, CI/CD pipeline building, custom tooling, and upgrade paths. Platform Operations: Day-to-day patching, environment provisioning, access management, and routine maintenance. Code & Config Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and platform configurations to ensure compliance with the LLD. 5. Continuous Platform Improvement Optimization Initiatives: Identify platform bottlenecks and drive improvement actions, such as Dispatcher caching optimization, JVM garbage collection tuning, TarMK/MongoMK maintenance, and repository cleanup. DevOps Culture: Drive automation across the lifecycle using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, or GitLab CI. Required Skills & Experience Technical Skills: AEM Expertise: 6+ years of deep technical experience with AEM (6.5 On-Premise and AEMaaCS), including expert-level knowledge of OSGi, Apache Jackrabbit Oak, Dispatcher configurations, and Adobe Cloud Manager. AWS Cloud Mastery: Strong hands-on experience configuring AWS services (EC2, S3, EFS, ALB, CloudFront) specifically tailored to support enterprise AEM workloads. Design & Documentation: Proven track record of authoring comprehensive Low-Level Design (LLD) documents and infrastructure diagrams. Observability Stack: Proficient with APM and logging tools (e.g., New Relic, AppDynamics, Splunk, ELK). CI/CD & Automation: Strong understanding of Maven, Git, Jenkins/GitLab CI, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible). Leadership & Soft Skills: Team Management: 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring technical teams (DevOps, SysOps, or Platform Engineers). Operational Resilience: Calm under pressure with a strong Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) mindset focused on uptime and systemic fixes rather than temporary patches. Stakeholder Communication: Ability to articulate complex technical infrastructure risks and improvements clearly to both developers and business stakeholders. What Success Looks Like in This Role 99.9% + Uptime: Maintaining robust platform reliability across all AEM environments. Zero-Friction Deployments: Transitioning the team toward seamless, fully automated CI/CD pipelines with minimal downtime. Future-Proofed Setup: Successfully managing and optimizing the coexistence or transition from On-Premise to AEMaaCS without disrupting business operations.
