Your Impact The Vertex Manufacturing Digital Systems Co-Op is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards an undergraduate degree or an advanced degree in Engineering Sciences, Life Sciences, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or other related fields. What you will be doing: The Manufacturing Digital Systems Co-Op will support the continuous improvement, adoption, and user experience of digital tools used across Manufacturing. This role will collaborate with Manufacturing users and cross-functional partners to develop and maintain training materials, collect and analyze user feedback, track system-related activities, and identify opportunities to improve processes and digital system usability. The Co-Op will gain hands-on experience supporting key Manufacturing platforms, including the PI data historian, Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Tulip application platform. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in digital manufacturing, data analysis, systems improvement, and operational excellence in a biotechnology environment. Key Responsibilities: Support improvements that enhance the experience of end users across Manufacturing digital systems, including PI, MES, and Tulip. Review and update existing MES job aids to ensure they remain accurate, clear, and aligned with current system functionality and Manufacturing processes. Help develop new MES job aids, quick-reference guides, visual instructions, and other user-support materials based on business needs, system updates, and user feedback. Review open MES worksheets on a weekly or biweekly cadence, identify outstanding owners, and prepare follow-up communications to support timely closure. Maintain trackers for open worksheets, user feedback, common system issues, support requests, deviations, and recurring user challenges. Gather feedback from PI and MES users to support periodic assessments of system adoption, usability, and training needs. Analyze feedback and support data to identify recurring themes and opportunities for improved training, job aids, business processes, or system enhancements. Assist with collecting, organizing, validating, and analyzing Manufacturing data and performance metrics as needed. Create clear summaries, reports, and visualizations to communicate trends, findings, and recommended actions to stakeholders. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Digital Technology, Quality, and other cross-functional partners to support digital system initiatives. Follow applicable site procedures, quality standards, documentation practices, and data integrity expectations. Required Qualifications: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Business, or a related discipline. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, user-friendly documentation. Analytical mindset with an ability to collect, organize, interpret, and communicate data. Detail-oriented approach to reviewing documentation, tracking follow-up actions, and maintaining accurate records. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future. You must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before May 2027 You must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January – July 2027 Required Technical Skills Microsoft Excel, including data organization, tracking, and basic data analysis Microsoft PowerPoint and Word Data collection, organization, and reporting Documentation development and maintenance Process mapping or creation of visual work instructions Tracker and action-item management Basic data visualization and metric reporting Preferred Skills Exposure to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), PI data historian, Tulip, or comparable Manufacturing technology platforms. Interest in digital manufacturing, operational technology, process improvement, or Manufacturing operations. Familiarity with regulated environments, including biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, or other GMP-related industries. Experience creating training materials, job aids, standard work documents, or quick-reference guides. Experience using data analysis or visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms. Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean, Six Sigma, or root-cause analysis. Experience gathering user feedback, synthesizing themes, and recommending practical improvements.
