The Position The DOEA External Manufacturing Product & Project Leadership department is dedicated to driving operational excellence and shaping the future of our product lifecycle management. As the External Manufacturing - Technical Product Leadership Lead - Consumables ( Technical Product Leadership Lead), you will act as the primary disciplinary and professional expert for our community of Product Leaders. In this critical leadership role, managing a team of approximately seven subject matter experts, you will guide portfolio alignment, spearhead organizational change initiatives, and drive innovation through new product management processes and technologies. You will ensure the continuous elevation of quality and efficiency standards across the entire product portfolio while cultivating strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic investment decisions. The Opportunity Drive Product Strategy & Governance (30%): Lead the harmonized, high-quality execution of product strategy by standardizing product lifecycle practices, defining portfolio-level KPIs, and rolling out the network strategy to ensure squad prioritization aligns with organizational objectives. Lead Talent Development (30%): Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Product Leaders by managing the full talent lifecycle—from recruitment and performance management to addressing skill gaps and fostering a highly engaging, psychologically safe work environment. Optimize Resource Allocation (20%): Provide expert insights into Product Leader capacity and portfolio efficiency to ensure the right talent and investments are applied across associated squads and product initiatives. Translate Strategic Goals: Convert high-level organizational requirements—such as CAPEX reductions, SMC cost reductions, and impairment reductions—into actionable objectives for multiple product squads and MSAT teams while managing network interfaces. Oversee External Manufacturing (20%): Hold end-to-end accountability for the external manufacturing of assigned product areas (e.g., injection molding, automated assembly, reagent fill/finish) and manage the technical supplier evaluation and supply vulnerability analysis processes. Manage Capacity & Performance: Set operational targets, monitor standardized KPIs (quality, delivery, cost, capacity, service), and collaborate with Supply Chain, Procurement, and Portfolio Management to oversee and adjust future capacity needs. Ensure Technical Oversight & Escalation: Act as the primary escalation point for supplier-related product and manufacturing issues, maintaining robust technical oversight and escalation management in partnership with MSAT and Quality. Who You Are Educated & Experienced Leader: You hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or business field (Master’s or PhD preferred) and bring 5–7 years of product leadership experience, including 3+ years directly managing Product Managers or Leaders in a disciplinary capacity. External Manufacturing Expert: You possess deep expertise in external manufacturing and supply chain oversight, specifically managing capacity utilization and technical supplier evaluations for complex processes like injection molding and automated assembly. Strategic Portfolio Manager: You have a proven track record in portfolio management, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and agile frameworks, with strong experience navigating In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) or medical device environments to ensure regulatory and operational compliance. Systems Thinker & Problem Solver: You are resilient in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, utilizing strong analytical skills to manage complex network interfaces and translate competing stakeholder interests into actionable, results-driven strategies ("Ability to Get Things Done").
