Gilead Sciences in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated professional capable of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. The successful candidate will assume a full-time employment role focusing on electrical in the capacity of Maintenance Technician. Essential Duties and Job Functions: Maintain and repair motors, generators, switchgear, transformers, distribution equipment, MCCs, drives, sensors, relays, and control panels. Troubleshoot PLCs, automation equipment, and industrial control systems. Diagnose faults using electrical test instruments and replace defective components. Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and code specifications. Perform prevent at ive and predictive maintenance, inspections, and testing. Record completed work, equipment condition, repairs, and maintenance history in a computerized maintenance management system. Support production uptime by responding to breakdowns and minimizing equipment downtime. Complete installations, modifications, commissioning, and equipment start-up work. Ensure work complies with electrical codes, safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and site standards. Coordinate with operations, mechanical trades, contractors, and other maintenance personnel. Complies with all safety regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Exercises judgment within well-defined and established procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; identifies problems and generates alternatives and recommendations within defined processes. Working in collaborative team. Basic Requirements: Min. High School Diploma and 8+ years of relevant experience as an Electrician working in an industrial environment. Journeyperson Electrical Certificate. Additional Journeyperson certificate in a related trade (e.g., Instrumentation, Millwright, Welding) would be considered an asset. Experience working in a GMP environment considered an asset. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work. Preferred Requirements: Previous experience in a Chemical, Pharmaceutical, or Manufacturing facility is preferred. Demonstrates a working knowledge of maintenance systems, methods, and procedures. Participation in an On-Call rotation is mandatory. Flexibility for overtime hours may be necessary. Occasional work in confined spaces is required. Demonstrates strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Maximo asset management system is considered an asset.
