If you want to build technology that truly matters — join us. Together, we are shaping the future of connected cardiac care and changing lives every single day Come for a job, stay for a career! As a Principal Platform Engineer – ML/Ops within PCS organization, you will be involved in developing the software ecosystem supporting Medtronic implantable cardiac devices and will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the software development process. Medtronic PCS teams develop the next generation medical technologies that save lives, improve quality of living for millions of patients across the world. The team works with various software technologies in application software, network software, mobile software, BT/BLE communication software, and interfacing with embedded software for management and control of implantable medical devices. We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated, and highly skilled software development engineer to lead the charge in building the next generation of CRM solutions . This role demands innovative thinking, a strong background in cloud-based software development, and a passion for creating robust, scalable systems that drive exceptional user experiences. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and development of cutting-edge PCS software, collaborating with cross-functional global teams to deliver impactful solutions. Primary Responsibilities: Define technical direction for the design, implementation, and operation of shared platform and Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) capabilities that improve software delivery, developer productivity, operational efficiency, and the machine learning lifecycle. Lead major, moderately complex projects and technical initiatives that extend beyond the immediate job area, including planning technical work, delegating and reviewing work, coordinating cross-team dependencies, and driving delivery of expected outcomes. Independently investigate difficult, moderately complex, and undefined technical problems, gathering and analyzing information across systems, teams, and engineering disciplines to develop and implement effective solutions. Develop solutions and drive moderate to significant improvements to platforms, processes, systems, and engineering practices that improve scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, developer experience, and overall performance. Apply mastery of MLOps, cloud, platform, or distributed-system engineering to design scalable solutions and provide in-depth technical analysis and recommendations for architecture, modernization, standards, and engineering practices. Design and evolve reusable platform services, automation, APIs, templates, CI/CD capabilities, and self-service engineering workflows that simplify delivery and promote consistent practices across teams. Provide technical leadership, guidance, coaching, and training to engineers, including delegation and review of technical work, architecture and design feedback, code reviews, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing. Act as a technical team leader for major initiatives, establishing technical approaches, coordinating execution, reviewing work products, resolving technical barriers, and ensuring solutions meet expected outcomes. Represent the organization as a primary technical contact for assigned projects and initiatives, communicating with internal teams, customers, external partners, and vendors at various levels. Negotiate, influence, and build consensus across organizational boundaries to resolve technical tradeoffs, align dependencies, establish shared approaches, and drive decision-making. Partner across software engineering, architecture, security, data, and infrastructure disciplines to translate complex needs into maintainable, secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions. Lead technical investigations and root-cause analysis, implementing solutions that address immediate problems while identifying systemic improvements that increase platform effectiveness and operational resilience. Influence platform roadmaps, technical standards, project milestones, and adoption strategies through technical expertise, analysis, collaboration, and consensus building. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (Level 8) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Mastery of a relevant specialty area, such as MLOps, cloud platform engineering, distributed systems, software engineering, infrastructure, or data engineering, combined with broad knowledge of applicable industry practices. Strong knowledge of the machine learning model lifecycle and MLOps practices, including model development, training, validation, versioning, deployment, monitoring, reproducibility, and lifecycle management. Experience with machine learning frameworks and technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent technologies. Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and operating cloud-native and distributed software systems. Experience building and improving reusable platform services, automation, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, APIs, and self-service engineering capabilities. Strong hands-on experience developing software solutions in Python, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code for production environments. Demonstrated ability to independently solve difficult, moderately complex, and undefined technical problems through detailed information gathering, analysis, investigation, and sound engineering judgment. Demonstrated ability to make moderate to significant improvements to processes, systems, products, or engineering practices that measurably improve performance of the job area. Experience leading major or moderately complex technical projects
