From our entrepreneurial roots to our current global presence, we've grown into a force for positive change. With thousands of employees across six continents, collaboration is our greatest strength. We’re always striving to identify talented individuals to join our exceptional teams. We have played a pivotal role in shaping modern science and healthcare, and we're just getting started. If you're someone who thrives on new challenges, values diversity and wants to make a tangible difference in people's lives, then QIAGEN is the place for you. At QIAGEN, every day is an opportunity to make a real-life impact. Join us, grow with us, and together, let's shape the future of biological discovery. ‎ About the opportunity At QIAGEN Digital Insights (QDI), we develop industry-leading bioinformatics software and curated knowledge bases that help researchers, laboratories, and clinicians transform molecular data into actionable insights. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in building, automating, and operating the platforms that power our cloud-based and customer-hosted solutions. Working across multiple products and environments, you will help ensure secure, scalable, and reliable software delivery while supporting critical scientific and healthcare applications used worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to influence platform architecture, deployment standards, observability practices, and developer experience within a growing engineering organisation in Cluj, Romania. Your tasks: Build, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot production systems across QDI products using declarative, automated delivery pipelines, operating containerized workloads on Kubernetes across development, testing, staging, production, customer, and compliance environments. Author and maintain Helm charts, deployment specifications, and environment-specific configurations for services, adhering to platform packaging and naming standards. Provision, maintain, and evolve cloud infrastructure as code, including Kubernetes clusters, node groups, relational and NoSQL databases, analytics warehouses, object storage, and IAM roles and policies. Maintain CI pipelines, build tooling, and source-control repositories, ensuring image builds are reproducible, immutable, scanned, traceable to source, and supporting engineering and QA teams with Git workflows and CI configuration. Deliver zero-downtime releases for regulated products, managing promotions, hotfixes, rollbacks, pull-request-gated production changes, approval processes, and documented rollback plans. Own the observability and platform security stack, including log aggregation, dashboards, metrics, alerting, least-privilege access controls, centrally managed secrets, image scanning, patching, and separation of secrets from source control. Triage and resolve production incidents, validate deployments and platform health, analyse logs and alerts, debug application issues across JVM, Python, and web services, and coordinate root-cause resolution with responsible teams. Develop and maintain automation in Bash and Python, including deployment scripts, chart generators, validation and promotion tooling, operational runbooks, and internal developer-experience tools that improve deployment safety, visibility, and self-service capabilities. Analyse system capacity, performance, and cost across compute, storage, clusters, and data platforms; implement optimisations; and collaborate with engineers, analysts, and product teams on system design, performance requirements, project constraints, and interfaces. Your profile: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, with 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or platform engineering supporting Linux/Unix-based production systems. Strong hands-on cloud experience, preferably in AWS, including compute, IAM, VPC and networking, object storage, managed databases, secrets management, container registries, and monitoring services. Proven experience operating production Kubernetes environments, including workload management, Helm packaging, ingress configuration, resource tuning, debugging failing workloads, and infrastructure as code using Terraform or equivalent tools. Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery using Jenkins or similar platforms, Docker container builds, configuration management best practices, and deployments across QA, staging, and production environments. Strong scripting and automation skills in Bash and Python, with the ability to streamline operational processes and deployments. Solid Git expertise, including pull-request-based change control, code reviews, and collaboration within modern software development workflows. Experience with observability and production support in agile environments, including log aggregation (ELK or similar), metrics and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar), incident response, troubleshooting, and participation in on-call rotations. Nice to have: Experience with modern platform engineering practices, including GitOps (ArgoCD or Flux), Terragrunt or similar multi-environment infrastructure management, Cloudflare or comparable edge, WAF and CDN technologies, and building internal tooling or self-service platform interfaces. Strong operations expertise across cloud, on-premise, and customer-hosted environments, including production support for PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redshift, Athena, Spark on EMR (or similar), Parquet, transient cluster orchestration, and ensuring consistent operation of the same product across deployment models. Proven troubleshooting and infrastructure experience, including JVM heap and garbage collection analysis, containerised Python services, networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS/SSL certificates, load balancing, security groups, and secure application exposure), and exposure to regulated environments such as healthcare, biotech, diagnostics, GxP, ISO 13485, HIPAA, and GDPR.
