This role has a preferred location of Raynham, Massachusetts, but consideration will be given to West Chester, Pennsylvania or our New Jersey office locations. Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes. Job Overview The Sr. Director, Corporate Communications will lead the strategic direction, development, and execution of enterprise‑level communications for DePuy Synthes. This role is critical in shaping the company’s reputation, strengthening employee engagement, and supporting business priorities during a period of transformation and growth. The position serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and plays a pivotal role in ensuring consistent, transparent, and impactful communication with internal and external partners. Key Responsibilities Develop and lead the global corporate communications strategy to support DePuy Synthes’ business objectives, brand positioning, and organizational transformation. Serve as a strategic communications advisor to executive leadership, providing counsel on messaging, stakeholder engagement, and reputational risk. Oversee internal communications to drive employee engagement, change adoption, and alignment with company priorities and values. Lead external communications, including corporate announcements, media relations, executive communications, and thought leadership. Manage crisis and issues communications, ensuring timely, accurate, and coordinated responses. Collaborate cross‑functionally with Legal, HR, Regulatory, Marketing, and Business Leaders to ensure messaging accuracy and compliance. Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing communications team and manage agency partnerships as needed. Ensure all communications align with Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and leadership expectations. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (required). Master’s degree or MBA (preferred). Experience and Skills Required: Typically requires 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related fields, with significant leadership responsibility. Proven experience leading enterprise‑level communication strategies in a complex, regulated environment. Demonstrated success advising senior and executive leadership. Strong experience managing internal and external communications, including media relations and change communications. Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams. Preferred: Experience in healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries. Experience supporting corporate transformations, mergers, separations, or large‑scale change initiatives. Global communications experience and cross‑cultural collaboration. Strong stakeholder management and crisis communications expertise. Familiarity with digital and employee communication platforms. Exceptional written, verbal, and executive‑level communication skills. Other: Language requirements: English (required). Travel: Up to ~20%, domestic and occasional international.
