DESCRIPTION: The Senior Product Manager, CE Instruments, will lead the strategy, commercialization, and lifecycle management of the capillary electrophoresis (CE) instrument portfolio supporting clinical, forensic, applied sciences, and research customers globally. This role will be responsible for driving product growth, customer engagement, market development, and portfolio performance for CE instruments and associated workflows. The successful candidate will serve as a key product management leader within the CE-HID organization and will work closely with global cross-functional teams across R&D, applications, commercial, service, operations, regulatory, quality, finance, and marketing. The role requires strong business acumen, technical understanding of CE instrumentation and laboratory workflows, and the ability to translate customer and market needs into compelling product strategies, differentiated solutions, and profitable growth. This is an onsite position in Pleasanton, CA . What will you do? Product Strategy and Lifecycle Ownership · Own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle management for the CE instrument portfolio. · Define portfolio priorities and recommend strategic trade-offs across instruments, software, assays, applications, consumables, and workflow capabilities. · Develop product strategies that address the needs of clinical, forensic, applied sciences, and research laboratories. · Lead long-range portfolio planning, product evolution, upgrades, and end-of-life strategies. · Partner with global product management and business leadership to align portfolio priorities with division strategy and growth objectives. · Identify opportunities to improve customer productivity, workflow efficiency, ease of use, reliability, and total cost of ownership. Customer and Market Insights · Serve as the voice of the customer by translating unmet needs, workflow challenges, market trends, and competitive intelligence into product requirements and roadmap priorities. · Engage directly with customers, key opinion leaders, channel partners, and industry stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and growth. · Develop a deep understanding of laboratory workflows, throughput requirements, automation needs, and data analysis expectations. · Analyze customer feedback, market data, win/loss insights, and competitive offerings to inform portfolio decisions. · Represent global customer and market perspectives in global product planning and development discussions. Cross-Functional Leadership · Lead cross-functional teams through influence across R&D, applications, commercial, marketing, service, operations, quality, regulatory, finance, and supply chain. · Drive alignment on product requirements, development priorities, launch plans, investment decisions, and lifecycle activities. · Collaborate with global teams to ensure global market needs are reflected in product design, product development, commercialization, and support strategies. · Establish clear business objectives, decision criteria, milestones, and measures of success. · Build strong partnerships across a global matrix organization without direct authority. Innovation and Workflow Enablement · Partner with R&D, applications, technology, and commercial teams to identify and prioritize customer-backed product innovations. · Influence development of new instrument capabilities, workflow improvements, automation solutions, software enhancements, and applications. · Evaluate adjacent market opportunities and emerging technologies that can expand the value of the CE portfolio. · Develop business cases and customer value propositions for investments in workflow efficiency, ease of use, data management, connectivity, and laboratory automation. · Help define future platform and workflow strategies that strengthen portfolio competitiveness. Commercialization and Market Development · Lead product positioning, market segmentation, value proposition development, messaging, and pricing recommendations. · Develop and execute commercialization strategies for new products, enhancements, and portfolio initiatives. · Partner with sales, marketing, applications, service, and channel teams to ensure launch readiness and customer adoption. · Support sales enablement through competitive positioning, training, presentations, product messaging, and customer-facing materials. · Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, advisory boards, demonstrations, and other market-facing activities. · Monitor market adoption and recommend actions to accelerate growth and improve customer experience. Financial and Business Ownership · Own portfolio business performance, including revenue growth, market share, profitability, forecast accuracy, and lifecycle value creation. · Develop business cases, investment recommendations, pricing analyses, and financial models to support portfolio decisions. · Partner with finance and business leadership on forecasting, annual operating plans, demand planning, and long-range planning. · Monitor portfolio performance and market results, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend corrective actions. · Balance customer value, commercial potential, development investment, operational feasibility, and business return. How will you get here? Education · Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, engineering, molecular biology, biotechnology, chemistry, or a related discipline required. · Advanced degree such as an MS, MBA, or PhD preferred. Experience · 5&#43; or more years of experience in product management, marketing, applications, commercial strategy, or a related role within life sciences, biotechnology, clinical diagnostics, forensic science, or analytical instrumentation. · Experience with capillary electrophoresis, genetic analysis, molecular biology, clinical diagnostics, forensic workflows, or related instrumentation preferred. · Experience managing complex laboratory instruments or workflow solutions preferred. · Demonstrated experience developing product strategy, managing product lifecycles, and commercializing complex instruments or workflow solutions. · Experience translating customer needs into product requirements, roadmaps, and business priorities. · Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives in a global matrix organization. · Experience working with global customers, commercial teams, and market stakeholders. <
