Job Summary The Senior Systems Engineering Technician supports the development, verification, and maintenance of Insulet products through laboratory operations, test execution, equipment management, prototype construction, and technical process support. This role partners closely with Systems Test Engineering, Systems Test Automation Engineering, Engineering Operations, and cross-functional R&D teams to ensure efficient test readiness, accurate data collection, asset accountability, and continuous improvement of laboratory processes. The technician serves as a key contributor to engineering projects, device evaluations, and lab infrastructure supporting both sustaining and new product development activities. Responsibilities • Execute engineering testing activities including verification, characterization, reliability, and ad hoc evaluations. • Build, configure, and maintain test benches, fixtures, and prototype devices used across development programs. • Collect, analyze, document, and report test results following established procedures and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). • Manage laboratory equipment, calibration schedules, maintenance activities, and vendor service coordination. • Support inventory management, forecasting, procurement, storage, and distribution of engineering materials and test assets. • Maintain accurate asset records within enterprise tracking systems (SAP, ServiceNow, or equivalent). • Support application lifecycle management (ALM) tools, test environments, and engineering workflows. • Partner with engineers to troubleshoot hardware, software, and test system issues. • Develop and maintain laboratory procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation. • Ensure laboratory compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve testing efficiency, lab operations, and asset utilization. • Mentor junior technicians and provide guidance on laboratory processes and best practices. • Lead moderately complex projects and independently execute advanced technical assignments. • As needed, work late hours and weekends as needed to accomplish testing and project milestones. Preferred Skills & Competencies • Experience supporting medical device development and verification activities. • Familiarity with test automation platforms, data acquisition systems, and engineering tools. • Experience with Jira, ALM systems, SAP, ServiceNow, or equivalent enterprise tools. • Strong troubleshooting and root cause investigation skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced R&D environment. • Experience supporting regulated environments (21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485). • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions. Education & Experience Minimum • High School Diploma or GED. •. 8+ years of laboratory, engineering technician, manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, or related technical experience. •. Strong computer skills with hands-on experience working in command-line and terminal based systems •. Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills. Preferred • Experience related to Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or related field. • Medical device, life sciences, or regulated industry experience. • Experience supporting software, hardware, and systems-level testing.  Job Title: Senior Systems Engineering Technician Department: Systems Engineering COE FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Overview: The successful candidate will be responsible for managing materials, specific database tools and performing various engineering tasks across R&D supporting existing products and new product initiatives. The general scope includes working with a highly motivated team of dedicated and experienced engineers in managing R&D materials and assets for ad-hoc or V&V testing purposes, executing testing and data analysis, building device prototypes and maintaining laboratory equipment. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Systems Engineering with the primary objective of this position will be ensuring smooth operation and preparation of mission critical materials supply, testing and analysis to promote robust medical device design, development, and evaluations. Responsibilities: Manage inventory and distribution of R&D materials and equipment assets across Acton and Billerica facilities Collaborate with finance and R&D leadership on material/asset estimates supporting budgetary needs Execute device prototype builds for various testing needs (i.e. V&V, wear studies, ad-hoc testing) across R&D Interface cross-functionally with other R&D groups ensuring software and cloud environments are configured properly Key stakeholder in administration of Systems Engineering Application Lifecycle Mgt (ALM) tool(s) Assist R&D engineers and other technicians with product testing, data analysis and evaluations as needed Maintain laboratory equipment by scheduling regular maintenance, interfacing with facilities, service technicians and responding to equipment issues Work with QA to manage calibration schedules and tool files for all lab equipment by creating tool files for new equipment, scheduling calibrations, maintaining proper equipment labeling, reviewing and updating tool files Enforce lab safety and housekeeping practices by reviewing best practices, interfacing with engineers to determine special needs Independently performs routine and advanced technician tasks deploying standard and advanced techniques. Leads projects of moderate complexity and takes on more complex projects with support from engineering staff. Completes troubleshooting of technical issues through application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. Education and Experience: Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED 8+ yrs experience working in a laboratory environment or combination of higher level education At least 8 yrs experience working in a development lab, preferable in R&D Experienced with GDP (i.e. accurate logging of data and test methods) Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel) & technical writing capabilities Familiar with operation of 3D printing equipment Preferred Skills and Competencies: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical related field Experience in a medical device regulated environment (21CFR820) Self-driven, efficient learner and able to perform in a dynamic work environment Understanding of procurement and inventory control Equipment Maintenance Planning, organization & detailed oriented Physical Requirements (if applicable): Must be able to lift up to 20lbs regularly Must be able to lift up to 50lbs infrequently Must be able to reach over head Sitting or standing for periods of time Additional Information:
