Together, we’re improving health and improving lives. Labcorp is seeking a Biorepository Intern to join our Biorepository team located in Greenfield, IN . Work Schedule: Monday - Friday / 40hrs per week Job Responsibilities Ensure all clinical trial specimens are maintained in the appropriate environment during handling, processing, and storage to preserve biological viability. Perform specimen aliquoting procedures and other sample processing activities. Perform data import and data modification activities within applicable systems. Complete study loads, study updates, specimen registration, de-identification, shipping, and disposal activities. Research and resolve sample discrepancies and specimen-related issues. Monitor, respond to, and resolve storage unit alarms to ensure regulatory compliance. Perform daily assessments of freezer nodes within the REES application and assist with freezer calibration activities and maintain required documentation. Relocate specimens during freezer failures and update sample management systems accordingly. Monitor freezer space utilization and coordinate storage optimization activities. Maintain audit trails, training records, and departmental documentation. Participate in customer audits and provide operational demonstrations when requested. Provide support to Biorepository management and collaborate with internal, external, and global stakeholders. Contribute feedback regarding SOPs, policies, training initiatives, quality improvements, and operational processes. Minimum Qualifications Actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field. Ability to perform laboratory-based specimen handling and processing activities in accordance with established procedures. 3+ months experience using computer applications for data entry and record maintenance through coursework, laboratory activities, or prior work experience. Preferred Qualifications Coursework in laboratory science, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines. 3+ months experience handling biological specimens in an academic, research, or laboratory setting. Experience working with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or specimen tracking systems. Experience in a clinical research, biorepository, or regulated laboratory environment. Additional Job Standards Ability to handle irreplaceable clinical trial specimens in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements. Ability to monitor workflows and prioritize activities to meet established timelines. Ability to investigate and resolve operational issues in a timely manner. Ability to provide introductory training and guidance to new team members. Ability to maintain accurate records, audit trails, and documentation. Ability to work collaboratively with management, internal departments, customers, and global teams. Ability to respond to freezer alarms and operational issues during and outside normal business hours as needed. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow departmental and interdepartmental SOPs and company policies. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a laboratory environment. About the Team: The Biorepository department stores millions of clinical trial samples using an inventory management system after study closure for future research. Our team organizes, stores, aliquots, and ships samples based on client requests. The team makes use of a very large automated freezer that stores 4.5 million samples to track and retrieve samples. We also use automated liquid handler technology to aliquot samples for testing.
