Your Impact The Vertex Biologics, MSAT Co-Op is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards a undergraduate degree or advanced degree in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, data science, statistics, biology, chemistry, or other related fields. What you will be doing: Vertex is a global biotechnology company focused on discovering, developing, and commercializing innovative medicines for people with serious diseases. The Biologics Manufacturing Science and Technology (Biologics MSAT) group provides technical and analytical support for biologics products across commercialization and manufacturing. The co-op will support data analytics workstreams that improve process understanding, manufacturing performance monitoring, and data-driven decision making. Key Responsibilities: The co-op will work within Biologics MSAT and with cross-functional partners on data analytics projects supporting biologics manufacturing and commercialization. Compile, clean, organize, and analyze manufacturing, process, and product quality data from multiple sources. Develop repeatable data workflows, dashboards, visualizations, and statistical summaries to support process monitoring and technical investigations. Perform trend analyses to identify process variability, emerging signals, and opportunities for improvement. Support the development and maintenance of data analytics tools and standardized reporting approaches for Biologics MSAT. Document analytical methods, assumptions, data sources, and conclusions in a clear and traceable manner. Collaborate with Biologics MSAT, Manufacturing, Quality, Process Development, and other cross-functional partners to translate technical questions into analytical workplans and communicate results Qualifications: Education: Pursuing a BS or MS in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, data science, statistics, biology, chemistry, or a related discipline Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Experience working with data in Microsoft Excel; exposure to statistical or visualization tools such as JMP, Minitab, Power BI, Python, or R is preferred Ability to organize, clean, analyze, and clearly present complex datasets Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to self-direct and manage individual project deliverables Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn new tools, processes, and technical concepts Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future.
