The Opportunity: Production Shift Leader (Lab 3) (Evening Shift 2-10pm) Lab 3 Production prepares sample collection containers, a repacking and irradiation service. The customer base consists of Water Testing Companies, Pharma Production, Industrial Companies or R&D Companies. The role is to support the Lab 3 production business, by assembling the product, managing inventory, structuring of workflow and management of some of the production workforce. Report to: Production Manager Location: Magna Park, Lutterworth Evening Shift 2-10pm Job duties and responsibilities: Organize and coordinate the activities of the production team to ensure workflows are completed in accordance with priorities set by the Senior Production Controller or Production Manager. Lead by example, fostering a positive, productive culture and collaborative team environment while motivating team members to achieve operational goals. Allocate resources and workload effectively to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are met. Perform Workday administration activities for direct reports, including goal setting, holiday approvals, absence management, and performance-related activities. Drive cycle-time efficiencies by minimizing machine changeovers and optimizing production sequencing. Deliver operational efficiencies through effective organization of material and component flow throughout the production process. Support warehousing activities using forklift trucks, including but not limited to, goods receipt, inventory rotation, and the handling of semi-finished and finished products, as required. Prepare and maintain product labels, batch documentation, and associated records, including label printing using BarTender software. Ensure products are assembled in accordance with approved Work Instructions, quality requirements, and production schedule. Conduct in-process quality checks and verify the accuracy and completeness of associated production documentation. Complete production order confirmations and support the “flow through” dispatch of finished goods. Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, environmental, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements within the team. Support the creation, review, and continuous improvement of Work Instructions, Risk Assessments, and production procedures. Report non-conformances, deviations, near misses, and safety observations. Deliver and support training activities as required to ensure team competence and compliance. Listen to and address employee concerns, resolving conflicts where possible and escalating issues appropriately when required. Provide regular feedback to management regarding team performance, operational challenges, resource requirements, and opportunities for improvement. Monitor productivity, workflow performance, and operational effectiveness, providing data and recommendations during regular production review meetings. Undertake any other reasonable duties within the production environment as required by management Qualifications: GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent). Minimum 3 years’ experience leading a team in a production/manufacturing environment. Experience in setting up and working on machine lines, including equipment troubleshooting desirable. Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001. Competent IT skills, Experience using SAP, Workday, BarTender, or similar business systems Forklift Truck (FLT) licence desirable; training will be provided where required. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Strong and effective English written communication skills SAP knowledge of production, inventory (desirable but not essential as full training will be given) High level of attention to detail A commitment to quality standards and the importance of following procedures Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to ensure on time completion of all required tasks Self-motivated, demonstrating initiative and results orientated Strives for continual improvement, demonstrates innovation and organisational agility Ability to make sound decisions Ability to work collaboratively with Production, Planning, Quality, Warehouse, and other cross-functional teams. Environmental working conditions & Physical effort This is a mixed role between an office and operational environment, including the production floor where 2 machine lines are operated. The role will involve some of the following manual handling and require you to drive a Forklift truck: Some physical effort is required through walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that can weigh up to 10kg. Some degree of lifting and heavy work is likely with the daily movement of equipment, machinery, and supplies. The work involves stock taking and transporting hazardous chemicals. PPEs and Safety data sheets will be provided. The work involves setting up the machinery and use of hand tools, training will be provided The work involves the use of lift pump-trucks moving bulk products. The work involves wrapping the products ready for process/shipping. You will be required to wear specific protective clothing in this role, all of which will be supplied.
