JOB DESCRIPTION: The APAC Medical Affairs team is seeking a highly motivated intern to support scientific and medical activities across the Abbott EPD portfolio. The intern will contribute to evidence generation, scientific communication, training support, medical information management, stakeholder engagement preparation, and cross-functional projects. This internship is designed to provide structured development toward entry-level Medical Affairs competency through supervised learning, project ownership, and field medical exposure across multiple therapeutic areas. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The intern will support Medical Affairs activities across Gastroenterology, Women's Health, CNS, Oncology, and other EPD therapeutic areas based on business priorities. Scientific Literature Review and Evidence Synthesis • Conduct structured literature searches using scientific databases and medical publications. • Review clinical studies, treatment guidelines, congress updates, and real-world evidence. • Prepare evidence summaries, scientific briefs, literature reviews, and evidence tables. Medical Content Development • Translate complex scientific information into clear, accurate, and compliant educational materials. • Develop training resources, infographics, FAQs, presentations, and scientific communication materials. • Support the development and updating of medical content repositories. Medical Training Support • Assist in preparing training programs and learning materials for internal stakeholders. • Develop training decks, facilitator guides, case studies, and knowledge assessments. • Support internal medical education activities. Medical Information Support • Research and draft evidence-based responses to straightforward medical inquiries under supervision. • Maintain FAQs and scientific information resources. • Ensure appropriate documentation and referencing of scientific materials. Field Medical and Stakeholder Engagement Support • Participate in Medical Science Liaison (MSL) field shadowing activities. • Prepare stakeholder engagement briefs and scientific background materials. • Support documentation and follow-up actions from scientific engagements. Medical Insights and Project Coordination • Consolidate medical insights gathered from healthcare professionals and field teams. • Support identification of evidence gaps, educational opportunities, and unmet medical needs. • Assist the Medical Manager with project tracking, reporting, and cross-functional coordination. Learning Opportunities During the internship, the candidate will gain practical exposure to: • Medical Affairs roles and responsibilities within a multinational healthcare organization. • Disease management and treatment landscapes across multiple therapeutic areas. • Literature evaluation, critical appraisal, and evidence synthesis. • Scientific communication and medical content development. • Medical information response processes. • Healthcare professional engagement and field medical activities. • Medical insight generation and stakeholder management. • Cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, and other functions. KEY REQUIREMENTS: Education • Undergraduate or postgraduate student pursuing a degree in: o Pharmacy o Medicine o Biomedical Sciences o Life Sciences o Public Health o Related healthcare disciplines Technical Skills • Strong scientific literature review and research skills. • Ability to interpret and summarize clinical evidence. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly: o PowerPoint o Excel o Word • Ability to prepare scientific presentations and educational materials. Soft Skills • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • High attention to detail and scientific accuracy. • Curiosity and passion for medical science. • Strong organizational and project management skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Languages • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. This opportunity is offered through our third-party contract arrangement, with a 6-month internship duration.
